Tiffany Dials - Question?

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone knows what year range the Tiffany Dial can be found?

Is a Tiffany Dial that rare that it can fetch that much more in asking price?

Thanks,

Eric

A Rolex with a Tiffany dial if it has its proper paperwork and the box Tiffany put it in from Tiffany can cost a great deal more than a similar model without Tiffany on the dial. People collect co branded watches. If the proper paperwork is not with the watch to me it is not worth $1.00 more and maybe less because it will always be a questionable watch that I will have to justify to all that ask. There was and maybe still is today a few dial re finishers here that would put Tiffany ,Cartier, etc on any dial you sent them.I know a watch dealer back in the 90's that every watch he sold said Tiffany he got a few hundred extra back than. I know of no way to prove by looking at a dial if it is genuine Tiffany or not since Tiffany themselves put Tiffany on the dials of the watches they sold. The fonts are not consistent etc.

I had a lengty discussion with Tiffany a couple of years ago regarding this matter.

They have no data of how many sold and can't even verify them.

If you bring one in to them they won't be able to tell if it's one of theirs or a redialed version.

Nikos and Leo are on the mark. Unlike some co-branded pieces Tiffany did not mark the case in any fashion. Most collector's want the paperwork.

The Tiffany font took several forms and as Leo said record keeping was........

Incorrect. There were two types of dials-those that Rolex had printed with the Tiffany name in Switzerland, and those Tiffany added their name at their shop above the store on Fifth Avenue. Having worked there I'd say Rolex printed dials vs Tiffany printed dials were 100-1.

In fact, the Tiffany repair shop stocked replacement Rolex printed Tiffany dials.
