I think we should come up with a nickname for people who use nicknames for watches.

Over the past centuries, countless individuals have assigned stupid and/or questionable names to their pets and offspring so it really shouldn't come as any surprise that new nicknames are always being created for Rolexes.

At one time certain Rolexes were monickered after real people. Now they are being named after various cartoon/fictional characters. Next thing you know, the venerable Submariner will be called an 'Aqua Man'.

Aside from the laughs, I wonder if those who "like" nicknames realize that this watch already has one. The nickname is the Daytona. The real name is Cosmograph.

So I guess that some want to nickname the nickname.

Like I said, good for laughs.

Must be the white dial 500. It goes well with the Sith Lord.

Ha - I'm in agreement with the Batman and Hulk comment above - wish they would not have stuck...

i tend to be fine with some of them. Hulk for instance is fitting and it doesn't bug me at all. Others like Batman i can't stand. It is totally illogical, and i don't know why I'm ok with some but not others.

Don't get me started on the "james cameron watch" that is the absolute worst one EVER and its not even a nickname. It commemorates the dive, not the person. It makes about as much sense as me nicknaming my profile picture as my "James Cameron Avatar"

It might be because some watches developed a nickname over time and rather organically. It was "earned" in a way. Now, everyone automatically tries to force a nickname on every single watch.
