What original crown goes on a 1967 meters first 5513?

I have a newer service crown on my otherwise original example and would like to source a used original one to make it a bit more period correct.

I'm not taking it in water or anything like that so I'm not worried about it being previously owned. Just as long as it looks nice and there's still some thread life on it to keep it screwed down.

Thanks.

yeah should be a 700. I have seen 702 as well but it may be likely serviced at a later point.

The 3 dots are 24-703 I believe. If you want the original one , it should be 24-700 with no dots , as mentioned above.

3 dots could be 702, 703 or even 704.

Thanks fellas. I have sourced a couple of 24-700 without the dots that look in great shape and plenty of thread. I have them bookmarked on eBay and will wait for a coupon to help defray the cost as they're hovering around $300.00.

My next mission is to find an NOS crystal. I love the super dome look but believe my 1967 5513 didn't come with it. So I believe I am looking for a 25-19. My question is, how much taller is it compared to my glass service crystal that is from 1996?

Don’t forget the tube. It’s called 24-7000.

Your 1967 sub most definetely came with a superdome crystal to begin with. They are quite tall. It is very hard to find old original ones. Later T19 crystals have the same number so make sure you get a superdome. Without knowing exactly what you do it will be a 99% chance you either get a later crystal or more likely an aftermarket one. Personally I find it easier to source old watches with them still on than finding lose ones available on the market. They are that scarce.

Attached is a pic of my worn T19 superdome on my 5512. Probably polished a few times over the years.

Very cool!! That's what I love but don't think it came with my (my grandfather's) 5513 so I don't want to put one on. Like I mentioned, I'm assuming my came with a 25-19 instead.

The crown tube you mean? A 24-700 wouldn't thread on to the existing one? I don't recall the tube being replaced when I had it serviced, just the crown was.

Thank you.

Edited my post. A 1967 sub had a superdome crystal to boot.

If you have a triplock mounted now it is likely also the tube is changed. If you have a twinlock you have the correct tube. They only fit with the corresponding tube. (7000, 7020 etc)

Which crown do you have on the watch today ?
The above point is that each crown is only compatible with its specific tube (a 702 crown would not fit on a 24-7000 tube etc)

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. So a superdome came on it? Sweet, I want to hunt down a genuine one then. I always thought it didn't!

I am not certain of the crown tube but maybe this photo helps. It's a modern service crown.

Here is my existing crown. And a shot of the service crystal.

Then you need a tube. Be careful paying top dollar for a superdome. Most available will be fresh made fake crystals.

That’s what I’ve read. Thanks for the heads up.

What tube part number would I need? Thanks.

The tube will be harder to find than the crown.

There's some on eBay. Pricey.

But I have the part numbers now to decide how to proceed.

Thanks again guys.
