ADs in the UK I was told are not allowed to ship Rolex watches as part of there contract with Rolex. Even in current times it looks like this restriction has not been lifted.

I have purchased a Sea Dweller 43mm from WOS using the same online payment scheme. I will collect it when they open. Paid on credit card so happy I’m well protected.
The group have vast QTY of stock at HQ they have just been forced to bring more out.

A deposit is a joke in this economy. I'd tell them to go fly a kite, but in Thai.. "chuck wow".

The question is. Which ss model did they offer ?

Daytona? Then I would do it. It’s not like a big chain like Goldsmith is going bankrupt

I'm not in the business of lending my money at zero interest for indefinite periods of time. I wouldn't have a problem putting down a reasonable percentage, though. But everyone has different levels of comfort.

I've had Rolexes posted to me before, from David Robinson, so I would want that or I'd wait.

Not in a million years would I do that!

Anyone who thinks that their money is safe with any business that is closed indefinitely needs to give their head a wobble.

Its a watch, get a grip!

I would not do this unless I personally knew the person on the phone.

Do you know exactly how you are covered if you use a credit card to pay for a deposit if the company goes under? What part of the regulation does this come under?

So, you're telling me I should have passed up on a white dial daytona a few weeks ago because they asked me to pay in advance and wait till the shop opens after covid?

I also believe this to be true. I was told that it was the reason that Banks Lyon in Lancaster lost their AD status, online sales and shipping.

Ok this is getting a little silly. OP, purchase the watch from Goldsmiths; if you pay now in advance, you'll have a nice gift waiting for you once the world returns to normal in several months.

Why is it silly? Companies way bigger than Goldsmiths have gone bankrupt. The WOS share price has HALVED in the last few weeks.

OP's inquiry was over legitimacy. It's legitimate. You've been waiting for the watch, now's your chance to get it. All these doomsday scenarios of Goldsmiths may go bankrupt and you'll never get the watch is ridiculous

Tell me which UK stocks have not lost circa 33% or more of their value? - are you suggesting all of the house builders , banks and insurers and going bust. Absolutely absurd

It’s not ridiculous at all. How do you know what affect this will have on the economy?

Stocks have taken a hit across the board. And WOS has made a very nice rebound this month. If OP pays now, he'll get his watch. They're not going Bankrupt.

Am I saying they will definitely go bankrupt? No. Am I saying there is a chance? Of course there is. For anyone to say there isn’t is insane.

So you're with the majority of the population that acts on buy high, sell low. By your logic, nobody would be buying stocks now, either. When something has strong financials and loses 30% quickly, that's generally a great buy. I wish I dumped a ton into WOS stock end of last month, things have rebounded very well!

Enough stock talk; just trying to prove a point that if you've been on a waiting list for a piece you really want and now you get the call, don't turn it down because you're afraid they're going to go bankrupt, especially a large company like Goldsmiths

We weren’t even talking about buying stocks. You brought it up.

There is zero chance WoS are going bust IMO. Check out their cash position and loan interest cover. If they go down we are in global meltdown territory beyond anything seen in over a 100 years.

Personally I don’t see that happening and am loading up on various stocks with that as my view.

If Goldsmiths give me a call - I’ll be paying.

All my own opinion of course.
