Waiting list for 5167/1A moving fast in Singapore

Hi guys,

Just want to share that i was put on a waiting list for 5167/1a as the 5167a rubber strap model is full.

There were about 7-8 persons in front of me November last year. Based on past delivery, it will take at least 2 years to reach my turn.

I just had a queue update from my AD and i was surprised that there is only 1 person in front of me as of yesterday.

Do anyone here know what's going on? Is it people are not buying or is only for the bracelet model? Frankly, i am reluctant to buy the 1A as its more expensive but it is the only Aquanaut that is available and affordable.

Appreciate any sharing please.

The flippers are being flushed out. Don’t buy it and wait for the strap version. Once the premiums have collapsed there will be short waiting lists.

I think the simple and cleaner 5167 is always winner irregardless of rubber version or bracelet. If you manage to secure the bracelet version, you can buy the rubber and deployant buckle from patek

Well, there are a few things to note:
1) there are now less travellers
Now, some of these “travellers” are the “loyal” customers of these AD. Now that almost no travellers can come to Singapore, demands have obviously dropped a LOT.
2) people are now keeping cash
With the “global recession” looming, a lot of folks who get called up basically have to turned down the offers.
I am of the opinion these 2 are main reasons.

If you’re not in love with the bracelet version, then step back. IMO you will get the 5167A sooner than you’d expect in these times.

Without naming the brand or model, the number of hitherto unobtainable models that SA’s are now calling to offer is mildly surprising.

My 2c on your situation.

One wonders how many of these Aquanauts/Nautiluses are in Patek's storage to be shipped out.

While we know that the factory has stopped production quite a few weeks back, ADs around the world are still getting shipment (as of March), and delivering those watches to end-buyers.

Thanks all for sharing, its been so insightful.

Although i am not in love with the bracelet, i am just being glad to be on the list as i do not have any prior PP purchase at all.

I guess having the bracelet and the subsequent option to buy the rubber strap makes the watch a great 1 watch collection too.

People are getting the call from their AD but don’t want to buy now as they don’t have the liquidity they used to have (or are saving cash for other more pressing things) and in addition grey dealers are offering less for most watches now...

I might be a minority on this but I think a lot of people got their hands on the limited edition version.

Wouldn't make sense to get another 5167.

It’s going to be funny when everyone that is talking about flippers backing away...only to realize their own jobs are at risk when they get back to work.

Then come back and let’s discuss how that waitlist looks...

Surprised people don’t understand the economy is on the edge of a depression...easy to ignore when stuck at home

As someone whose only income for April will be my $1200 U.S. Treasury handout, I have to agree except about the economy being on the edge of a depression. We're already in one.

Agree with this 100%

All “Patek lovers” will disappear and all around the world this list will be shorter!

People don’t realize what’s happening yet and grey dealers still keep price up because the most AD are closed.

Also Easter is nearer and grey still hope they will sold now some pieces.

Yes unfortunately some of us maybe will lose our jobs and we can’t keep in plan to buy our love watch.

But what I think will happen in the near future is : will see a massive drop in price and hilarious many “watch lovers” will disappear from the list because time when you buy from AD and sell on next corner with profit are gone and we don’t know when come back.

Also I think AD will become more friendly like they are around 4-5 years ago and I think they will start to appreciate our money who will decide to spend on a watch. This will be generally valid and for Rolex and Patek. They will rediscover the vocabulary who need to have to someone who want to spend few thousand euro on a watch.

So, patience my friends!

Asians (Singaporeans) are even more conservative spenders than U.S folks. Even if they have the money, they won't spend in this environment.

Exactly - the “watch investors” will all dissipate. As this has become 90 per cent of the client base in recent years, this is fantastic for collectors who will again be able to get hold of what they want fairly easily.

Very well said.

Grey dealers will hold on to inventory as long as they can as most of them had paid above retail to obatin Aquanauts and Nautilus from flippers.

The people who always plan like a recession may be around the corner are going to be a strong position - cash is king - having 24 months of income in cash has made me sleep at night quite well - and everyone who thought I was an idiot - is now scared - hopefully I will move up a few spots on the lists I am on.

24 months is amazing! And I thought I was doing good with 12 months salary in reserve.

At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi. At last we will have revenge.

Some people are somehow thinking that when they are finally allowed to go back to work, they will magically still have a job and all will be dandy. Businesses will be closing, they will be cutting back on employees, revenues will drop, buying power will diminish. There is a an ongoing recession, it's just we are all stuck at home and we can't feel its full wrath. What waiting lists? ADs will be down on their knees, willing to give you a.........discount to buy watches off their stock so they would have enough cashflow to carry on, somehow.

Didn't Patek close up shop for a bit, though?

How are these still flowing through the system?

Going back from the greys to the original supplying AD.

Boutiques in Singapore will be closed for a month starting end of tomorrow.

With factories and distribution channels closed, supply may not be that forthcoming especially for SS sports models which has always been low in production volume.

Nonetheless i hope 1 aspect from this pandemic is to reset the AD and client relationship. Its ridiculous when clients need to suck up to get the chance to buy something.
