I thanked him for the info and requested he contact me upon arrival.

He texted me yesterday with pictures. It sure is pretty. I asked him to confirm my cost.

MSRP of 89k and 10k over.

Given the world we are living in today, I thought it was wishful thinking. I would have debated it at MSRP. I am not looking to hurt anyone, and I want him to make his money.

But 10k over, for a car, in todays world...seems silly.

But...maybe because it is a brandy new C8 with a very desirable build...

No, I am not buying this thing. Not gonna happen. I have my sights elsewhere.

Curious though, you guys think he will get the 10k over?

I think that anyone paying this much over in this uncertain time, is likely taking advantage of this uncertain time to get a deal on a much nicer car. That's just my thought process.

What do you guys think?
Yes, he will get it.

Ok i stand corrected. High wing spoiler threw me off but it did have carbon fiber roof and GS looking wheels, blacked out trim.
Just got these 2 messages from my dealer. Looks like 2020s will be pretty rare..
Added, part two of second message

EDIT: nah I see you are in NJ. Well at least that's a visual of the 3x black.
Essentially the exact car.

So sexy.

But not for me.

Nothing wrong with paying over for a rare car. GT3's......new generation G-Wagons were hard to find recently...sure.

However, a Vette? No.

I am not a Corvette "enthusiast", never owned one. I do think they are a great car for the money but not being emotional about them I think its foolish to pay a premium for something that will be available at a discount in a year or less.

I do work for a supplier in the auto industry and Corvette is a very large part of our business. Annual sales of the car look like a classic sawtooth pattern. It takes wilder swings during each generation than any other car I can think of. They could sell 40,000 in an introduction year and by year 4 it would be under 20,000...and then start over again.

I think if it the same way I do a Rolex Daytona. You can have it a year or 2 from now for 13k or today for 20k (I don't follow the Rolex market so I am likely off slightly on both numbers). So let's make the math easy, you pay 6k to get it 18 months sooner. To me, you just rented it for $333/month and then bought it for full retail.

So with a car at 10k over that I would propose can be had for 5k under in 2 years it is financially is about like renting it for $625/mo and then paying full retail for a 2 year old used car.

Its nothing more than paying money just to be first. If it was "worth" 10k more then GM would price it that way and put it in their pocket instead of the dealer's.

The G63 in my Mercedes dealer has a $50k markup. $229,245

I would not. The car will be around for awhile. If you want one you wait and get it. That’s me.

Without getting into a lengthy post echoing what several others have said, I will just add NO I would not pay $10k for a Corvette.

Watches are bad enough, but supercars........

I have a question for you, or anyone else in this thread who might know.

Before this pandemic struck, I was contemplating buying a 2020 Aventador S Roadster. I picked out my preferred options in the Lamborghini Configurator (exterior color Blu Caelum, lots of black carbon fiber... would make a nice pairing with a BLNR).

My question is, do I need to have a "relationship" with the dealer to even be able to buy one of these cars? Before the pandemic, would these cars go for MSRP, above, or below?

I've owned a couple of Porsche 911 turbos, but I've never bought an Italian exotic.

You should be fine with an Aventador S. If it was an SVJ it might be a little tougher.

But I think most dealerships would be very happy to sell you an S. That said, I’m not sure about your exact spec. Depends on what kind of allocations they have.

For an S, typically it is MSRP, sometimes below. Especially if it is an in stock car. For a build, no discount. But, both Ferrari and Lamborghini are shut down in Italy. No word on when they will open.

Do you want the car? Up to you to decide, how many on this forum have paid a pretty price over 10K on several models of the Rolex line in the last 3 years due to short demand?

No discount for a custom build? Is this because of allocations?

I have never bought anything as exotic/expensive as a Lamborghini or Ferrari, but I have custom ordered several nice trucks, Jeeps, a few boats, and two Porsches. In my experience, the discount is always bigger when custom ordering.

My understanding is that the dealer would rather have inventory on hand for the impulse buyers.

there are so few of these being made. the individual dealer allocation is super low.
