My customized "Kill Bill" ROO!

2 weeks ago, I decided to send my 42mm ROO off to get a "Kill Bill" dial with matching pvd-ed bezel screws and original yellow crocodile strap...here is the final result!

I decided to mount the custom python strap on the watch for now because it matches the yellow in the dial better than the original AP strap which I am finding a tad too light.....may change it up later.

if it was an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie there would have been no need to customize, as AP would have done a LE already

Looks good

Man that's ugly!
Either way, took some serious balls to order a strap like that which I salute!

No but my wife does own the sexy Black Mamba costume that she wore to last year's Halloween.

not really a fan of the strap but really like the dial. I assume it wasnt AP that made this into a Kill Bill LE. Would look perfect on yellow rubber.

This dial swap was done at APSC in Canada. The original "Kill Bill" LE is actually on a titanium case. I wanted a yellow rubber strap but it is offered only in the 29/24mm size for the Diver. I needed a 28/18 strap to fit my existing deployant buckle. But yeah I agree a yellow rubber strap would have looked great on this.

Very bold choice, Ken! I nearly bought a cobra strap for a Breitling, still debating getting a Stingray for my LVc, guess you are more exotic than most.

i was not aware that was actually a thing, but it is. Learn something new every day.

That then makes it my favorite AP movie watch, but generally not a fan of cobranding so i like your mod far better than the original.

This watch was not actually called "Kill Bill" nor associated with the movie. It was just affectionately nicknamed as such because of the colour palette and was released around the same time the movie was popular (I may be wrong on this, but the LE dates back to 2008 or so.)

The original LE was actually for the Kuala Lumpur AP boutique, and named after the street it's on - Jalan Bukit Bintang.

And Ken, as I've told you already, I think it's a sick looking watch. But I would prefer it on the AP OEM with the black stitching - looks like it would pop more.

thats the case back of the one i looked up. Thanks for the clarification. Still co branded, but i like the watch otherwise. Unless i have a personal connection to the partnership of certain AP LE's I just don't get it. Just based on looks though, its stunning. I felt the same way about the Hotel Byblos AP. Loved the watch, just not the hotel name on the case back. The summer edition fixed that as its the same watch just not associated with anything else.

Ken, have you got a cloth handy?

I do find it strange that APSC would swap for a LE dial. Then could I swap my ROO 44mm for a Shumi dial? or my 42mm ROO for the RBII dial? glad they did if for you because I really like the look!

Just purchase the diver tang buckle. Worth it to be able to use more strap options.

I have a good relationship with the owner of this particular APSC - he doesn't seem to mind ordering in special edition dials on my behalf. I've done this on several Royal Oaks and ROOs without encountering any issues. So far so good!

In terms of rubber straps, the ones that are designed for the Diver actually measure wider at the lugs (29mm and tapers to 24mm at the tang buckle) so it's not possible to fit a yellow Diver strap on a 42mm ROO.

AP does make rubber straps in the 28mm width that taper to 18mm for deployant buckle (found on the 26170 reference), and taper to 20mm for the tang buckle (found on the 26470 reference). Unfortunately, the yellow rubber strap is not offered in these 2 sizes. I could be wrong but this is the information given to me by the local APSC.

Thanks Neil! I am a fan of textured exotic skins so go for it on the cobra and stingray straps!

If you're looking for a quality strap maker, Aaron P. at combat-straps.com does a fantastic job!

Thats an awesome relationship! I really wanted ceramic crowns on my FC diver but APSC clearwater wouldn't do it.

I've put diver straps on 42mm ROOs and didnt see any overhang at the lugs. Last one was putting the grey diver strap and tang on the 42mm elephant.

Sorry Jim, you're absolutely right about the Diver straps fitting the 42mm ROOs.

Prior to ordering the crocodile strap, I inquired about the yellow Diver strap and the local APSC told me it only comes in the 24mm width at the buckle. I declined as I had wanted one to fit the 18mm deployant buckle on my ROO.

My apology for the incorrect info.

Thanks Ken! I agree with everyone's opinion here - the orignal crocodile strap is the better looking one. It also feels more comfortable.
