I think that's the dumbest thing I've ever seen, really.

I'd never subject my turntable and cartridge to that, if I still had a turntable and cartridge.

I think an ice DVD would actually be dumber...

I await a Business Insider link on the same

Exactly dumber than dumber still after you tried to play it you could smash it up into your favourite tipple then perhaps it would have better use..

Yup, I agree. It's basically a "worthless" thing. All about we did it. Even though it was really poor sound wise, what really matters was taken away IMHO.

I suppose it was just another music freak that wanted to try something different.

And as mentioned in previous posts . . . I wouldn't either spend a needle / cartridge on this ice disk . . .

To expensive to play around with . . .

I still use my records pretty often . . . I think the music from the turntable seems to sound a bit warmer . . . than the CD versions . . .

Could be compared with a vintage watch . . . a little bit more fragile than the new ones . . . and it has a special feeling . . .

Ones you own a plexi . . . . you know what I am talking about ;-)

Vinyl records for all their faults have a better sound that CDs, warmer and more spatial.

CDs that are made from analog recordings sound better than CDs that are from digital recordings.

Mp3s sound worst of all and you can find information on this along with comparison recordings on the internet.

In the Seventies, everybody who was supposed to know anything at all about audio guaranteed us that digital would usher in a paradise for audiophiles, with unlimited dynamic range, no tape hiss, no clicks and pops, and a medium that was impervious to wear and tear.

What a pack of lies!

You've always been ahead of the curve Peter, you should definitely write to whoever invented this and recommend him your idea!

The ice "LP" could be played only once because the high pressures and forces of friction between stylus and the groove result in a temperature at the very tip of the stylus of about 480 degrees F.
