Scoring on train and escapement wheels
Hi all,
I sent my 1951 6082 in for servicing and the diagnostic noted some "scoring" on the train and escapement wheels likely from running without proper lubrication. I asked the watchmaker and he said there is plenty of life left in these wheels. But OCD perfectionist as I am, I wanted to ask here. Is this something to worry about? Is it relatively normal on a 75 year old movement? Should it affect performance or longevity at all? And should these need replacing eventually is that something that can easily be done with original parts (ie are those easily obtained) without affecting the integrity or value of the watch? Thanks as always |

To get any sort of meaningful feedback, you'll need to post photos. However, in the way of meaningless feedback, I would tend to think that your watchmaker probably knows what he's talking about. Just don't wait 70 years to service it next time. ;-)
