I used to wear my Rolex to the gym, but I don’t any more because I don’t like exercising with my wristwatch on. I don’t like the feeling on my wrist, it makes me limit my range of motion (eg with push ups, etc.), and I don’t like the feel of getting sweaty with my SS bracelet (yes, I know it can be washed, and I do clean it regularly). I don’t wear any watch to the gym.
I keep my watch locked up in my safe at home when I’m at the gym. If I’m on the road and I go to a hotel gym, I use the hotel room’s safe. I suppose if I found myself in a hotel room without a safe, I’d wear my watch to the gym, because it is safer than sitting on the counter in a hotel room. I never go to the gym straight from work, because I wear dress clothes and makeup, and I don’t work out wearing makeup. Men don’t have that issue (I don’t think my assumption that the men of TRF don’t wear foundation and eye makeup to work is controversial), and do go to the gym from work. If that were the case, I’d lock my watch in my car’s glovebox. I would never put my Rolex in a gym locker. |

These are no longer tool watches but very hard to obtain 10K plus pieces of jewelry. Id never wear it at the gym esp lifting weights as id be afraid to bang it hard. I would also not leave it in a locker. For me my gym is near my work and I walk there during my lunch break so I lock my watches in my desk when I go to the gym.

Ask TPG he wears 250k to the gym. I think whatever you are comfortable with. If your not a scratch warrior why not ? I have worn my DD in gym for fear of theft. It did look funny but who cares. Enjoy your watch!

I personally don’t wear my watches to the gym because I’m worried I’ll damage them but do you!

Rolex and gym
I have a good solution. Don't go to the gym.

I don't have a Skydweller, but I do wear my DJ or my GMT II when I work out. I don't like leaving it in the locker to possibly get swiped, it's much safer on my wrist. I've never banged it up (hey, it's a Rolex, it's tough!), and I just wear it into the shower and give it a good rinse to get the sweat off after the workout.
That's what I love about this brand - you don't have to baby them, they're tough cookies! (See my signature). -Dan

G-Shock for me. If you wear it to work and go directly to the gym, it is much safer on your wrist than in a locker.

you are not mad but why would you... it's a hefty and inflexible watch to wear when you're lifting no?
but then again, if it makes you happy, you're not mad! |

I wear all my Rolex to the gym for weights but I’m not doing cardio or sweating heavy. I’ve never had a problem in 25 years and I’m a gym rat, no less than twice a week ever.

Wear all my Rolex in the gym doing weights and I’ve never had a problem in 25 years. I do cardio at home so I’m at the gym for weights.

given the situation, the safest place for the watch is indeed at the wrist.
if it were me, i'd leave the expensive watch at home, probably just wear a beater on those days when i'm going to the gym. unless, you can't leave your watch at home either. people come and go in the house at any time? if so, then just leave it at the wrist. haha, good luck! |
