Antique/Vintage service recommendations in Canada?

I recently found out that my father in law has an antique Rolex (I believe it’s from 1924 or 1925, he wasn’t exactly sure) which has been being passed down through the family.

He only inherited it a couple years ago but wants to keep it in a condition that he could wear it if he wanted to. We were chatting about watches and he mentioned wanting to get it serviced since as far as he knows it has been at least 15 or 20 years since it was at the RSC.

He really wants the service done right and done with care to preserve the watch for future generations. Given that it’s a 100 year old family heirloom watch I am skeptical of suggesting he send it to the RSC after hearing of their issues and mistakes that have been made with vintage watches.

Is there a good independent expert who the community can service it (ideally in Alberta or BC)? Or should I just tell him to bring it to our local AD and have the AD ship it off to the RSC to do a full service?

If you’re in Vancouver BC, I recommend The German Watchmaker. He’s fantastic.

I've heard good things about Precision Horology which is just outside Ottawa.

Plus one for Precision Horology (Ashton Tracy). Outstanding reputation in the Canadian vintage watch community. I have no personal experience.

How do you know RSC didn’t change any exterior parts when it was in their hands 15-20 years ago? Post pics of the watch if it’s easy for you
