GMT 16700 Which original box ref no.

I have just added a lovely 1995 model 16700, "t" serial number to my collection and am trying to determine which reference number box it should have had originally.
I have searched the forums and found two boxes listed,

16700 Apr-98 68.00.71
16700 Jul-98 68.00.08

The difference seems to be in the inside, one has the cushion and fold over cloth, the other appears to have a rigid looking watch holder instead.

Could anyone possible tell me which one would be the most likely one for my watch please.
Thanks in advance.

The one with the cushion interior would be correct for a T serial. Better to put up photos of the box here first, though.

Yes, that's the one you want (there was no "official" box for the 16700, but this one seems to have been most commonly used. It was the ADs choice what box to give). Beware that there are a lot of fakes in this style, though the one you linked to is real.

Good advice here regarding fake "marbled-finish" box sets. This is the most counterfeited of all the Rolex boxes.

Be careful shopping for that deal because you might end up with one of the counterfeit boxes. I believe these complete box sets normally sell around $150, give or take some either way.

Way too many bad combinations - be careful out there.. Go to the "watchout" section and you can learn more.

Here is a bad inner box:

A year and half later after this post was started, the 16700 no longer appears to be a forgotten reference. I picked one up about three years ago for $4k and prices are now through the roof as well as the 1675.

I have a N serial 16700 with a R3 clasp code so I'm guessing it was sold sometime in 1993. I bought it with a 12.00.71 box and was wondering if this would've been added later or possibly sold originally with this box?
