OQ, odd dial?
Hello, I am looking for someone to explain to me what is happening with the dial on this watch I found on chrono24. The seller does not seem to mention the little yellow spots I can see. Would that be because it is a poorly repainted dial? Or normal wear/tear? or whether thats just how it looks like?

I would say that it somewhere over time has been affected by water...those spots are normally seen on vintage 4-digit Datejusts etc.

Maybe I should have posted in the vintage section hmm
Now, I am also not even sure if you could get gold stick on a SS bracelet with these |

Could be water damage or a bad refinish job.

Interesting..looks cool but I'd probably stay away or open the movement before buying because of potential water damage. Water + OQ movement = bad

What is the serial number of the watch? A Mark I dial like that should be around 5.2 to 5.8 million (if I remember rightly). Much later and it would be a replacement, although it does look like it was originally on a 17013 in any case. The damage looks like normal ageing to me. It's 40 years old.

Here is all the information http://www.chrono24.co.uk/rolex/date...-id6294265.htm no serial numbers, they claim 1999....odd if they did put a 40 year old dial on a relatively new watch
Here it is on their instagram Is that crown correct? I'd imagine it would be metal but it looks painted on there. |

The dial is a 1977 or 1978 Mark I. Just walk away from this one.
