1803 Buyers guide questions
1803 with the original buckle but Italian 18k replacement band......
How much does this kill an 1803? What else should I be looking for when picking up an 1803? Thanks!! |

A lot as a band will cost more than you paid for the head

I would say the aftermarket bracelet would not kill the deal if 1. The head is authentic n in good condition, n 2. If the bracelet is real gold. It's a matter of the asking price.
With gold watches especially 1803, condition is paramount. Unless it NOS, most likely it's been polished many times in its lifetime. If the lugs r thin, the worst being needle point, then stay away. I blame it on the autoconnect. |

It's just like buying a head only. Worth a lot less.

The head has a fairly easily quantifiable value and so does the bracelet. A real clasp has a certain value and aftermarket links are worth melt and whatever premium you are prepared to pay.
You pay the discounted value going in and sell it at the same discount coming out. Not rocket science :) |
