Help with Sub 1680, to purchase or not

Hey guys found a 1680 sub for $1200. Basically just the head, it's on an old datejust bracelet. The case has been polished and he script was touched up by a watchmaker or so seller says. The lume on hands and dial appears to be un touched t me at least. What do you guys think? Bezel also looks replaced. Would you consider buying at that price even with the re touched script on the dial? Look forward to hearing opinions

Are you sure that it's even the right dial? The 12 lum marker doesn't look long enough to me. With those photos being so out of focus it's hard to tell much.

To know the future is to be trapped by it

Agree and also agree about the length of the 12 marker.

$1200 for a 1680? That should have been the first red flag ... followed by all of the other ones.

So many problems here, but even an asking price of $3K for a 1680 should have set off alarm bells. Nice ones (or even mediocre examples) fetch north of $8K nowadays.

Do you pictures of the movement? The 12 o'clock marker is short.

Small world, my buddy drove over 200 miles just yesterday to see this very watch. Here's the reason why the hour hand is covering the coronet in most every picture:

This watch is 100% fake and the backstory behind it is ludicrous as well.
