I have champagne taste but a beer budget so 5522A.

Without fiscal constraints the WG of the 5524 really looks good against the blue dial and the small seconds sub dial is quite elegant.

5522 takes the cake. Time only, steel, sporty and I am going to guess more comfortable on the wrist.

The 5522 has a classic look to it. The 24's complications are desirable for me even though the 22 looks better. I'm afraid my "beer budget" will lead me to a Rolex BLNR, although it has a very different vibe than the PP.

PATEK PHILIPPE font is way too big. Both are a miss for me.

I'd go with IWC for a flieger, and Rolex GMT or Skydweller for a home time watch.

Each to their own and I will admit I am getting used to the BLNR but as "the pilots, pilot" I was surprised how difficult it is to read....you have to look for home time hand and it's not intuitive

Not really - it's always about the piece not how many they made, I only buy what I like and then always to keep and wear. Passed on 5650G for the same reason, wouldn't of had wrist time against the 5711P.

Lol. This holds true for me my friend. I did not like the 5524, but now quite like the 5522... strange.

I’d have to disagree, but it could’ve done with being lowered on the 5522, since there’s nothing on the bottom half to balance the top half, unlike the 5524’s date sub-dial.

We can't quite conclude that specifically for the 5524 from the poll - ie those who voted for the 5222 may in fact dislike the 5524...

I think we could conclude that the vast majority are good with a pilot watch (either 5524 and/or 5522) from patek, which may or may not be a change from prior feelings (ie maybe folks were always 'ok' with a PP pilot but just didnt like the 5524 execution, price, etc...but have found the right mix with the 5522).

I missing something the poll asks if you like 5524, the 5522, equally and no. The majority say they like 5524 and prefer it to 5523.

The poll does not capture those who explicitly like the 5222 but also explicitly dislike the 5524 - i was just commenting that the dislike for the 5524 could be higher than the 15% you referenced

If you dislike 5522 or 5524 and everyone disliked the 5524 that gives you 18% any way it's all becoming nonsensical but it shows more people like the 5524 than the 5522 unless you would like your poll results to show something else

The poll doesn't say "or", it's says "both".

I think the point that was made was that you could like the 5522 and dislike the 5524 and that isn't captured by the poll.

sorry, i think we are just talking about different things.

i agree more people like the 5524 than 5222, according to the poll.

I'm simply saying that you can't conclude from the poll that 15% or so dislike the 5524.

I started the poll to get an indication of how people felt about the 5524 vs 5222 and or both, in general - not how many disliked a specific model.

What percentage dislike the 5524 is the % that dislike both PLUS whatever subset that indicated they prefer the 5522 that also dislike the 5524.

thats all i was trying to say - poorly, apparently! lol

5524G is really growing on me (5522 dial a bit too plain for my personal taste)

Whats the UK availability like on the 5524G? (out of my league, but I'm curious!)

i prefer the dial on the 5524 but I'm still not sure about the side pushers. That may be my next watch, but i love the 5522 as well and would have gotten it in a second if i had the chance.

Nitpicking but the only thing on the dials I'm not sure about is the numeral "4" on both models. I don't like how it curves up at the end. It seems a bit out of place compared to the other numbers, but then again maybe IRL it isn't as noticeable as in pics?

The 5524 is looking better and better to me. I may have to make a run for it to complete the set. They sport two very different looks.

Is the 5524 difficult to source from an AD timewise?

Not as difficult to source as stainless steel Nautilus models. One of the ADs I deal with said the demand for 5524G has decreased over the last few months. However many ADs have waiting lists and it sells above MSRP in the grey market

Well I guess there is way more demand for the 5711 than for 5524, because of price point and the hype around it, but to be honest I wouldn't be against trading mine for a 5524, but only because I prefer my 12 much more, but the 11 is enjoyable to wear in summer at the pool, I wouldn't take the 12 there...

If you won't wear a 5712 in the pool this should make you weep

Do you know how many people are on the waitlist at your AD for the 5524? 1 a year doesn’t sound much, I wonder if that’s lower than the average.
