RG44 Finally Back From the SPA!!!

My RG44 finally came back from the APSC today. I felt so empty without it. It took longer than I thought it would. 8 weeks to be exact. However, it came back looking brand new! They also sent me this watch case. I thought I read somewhere that they stopped doing that, but was pleasantly surprised to get it. So excited to have it back on the wrist.

8 weeks, ouch. Looks great though.

my only data point on the boxes is I dropped off 3 AP's at the service center in London yesterday and they asked if i wanted one to take home. I said sure. Then they said "all three are going to come back with one as well"

Nice boxes, but I already had 1 not counting the 1 I got yesterday, so no idea what ill do with 5 of them.

Next time ill ask for a hat instead.

Very nice!

I'm on the hunt for one just from a daily storage perspective. Hopefully I get one of those boxes when it's time for my AP service.

Looks great. I still prefer the original silver sub dial version of the RG44 to the newer one - thankfully!

Oakley vaults are useful if you can find one - I could stand on it and it wouldn't crush. I have four and they are really very good. I also have some Smythson London leather watch rolls, that are wonderfully made, and have an equally wonderful leather smell!

I'm very surprised it took 8 weeks in US. What did they say was wrong? Curious if they were waiting on parts?

It was running a little fast. 10+ seconds a day. Wanted it pressure tested and a polish.

I was surprised too. I was quoted 4 weeks originally. They said there was something wrong with the date mechanism that caused the time deviation. They said they updated some parts so maybe they were waiting for parts.

I've heard that too. My only concern is bracelet stretch. I removed a decent number of links for my 15400 for a perfect it. The cushion in the AP travel box appears to be flexible enough to secure the bracelet from moving but not too rigid to push back against the bracelet to stretch it . The watch rolls and Oakley is more rigid and so if I "clamp" the watch onto the center part / cushion it is becomes extremely tight and push back against the bracelet. Overtime I assume this will stretch the bracelet.

The cushion on the AP travel case looks a bit more "flexiable" just from pictures. More like a pillow. Any travel case would typically be fine. Works for my leather strapped watches but when it comes to my bracelets watches... not so great.

Hahaha... hopefully you get what I mean.

I've got a larger Casebudi that houses mine nicely.

Looks great, Mike, I'd miss mine if away for that long too!

Any clue where to get the hats or any merch? I think AP makes the most tasteful merch.

For when I get my AP in the next years haha

This has been asked many times... Most AP items are promotional and gifted to customers, and they deliberately don't sell them as it would devalue their exclusivity and desirability. AP branded wise, I myself have a very nice watch winder, equally nice high quality pen, loupe, 'beanie' hat, bags and umbrella.

I must admit I don't like the design of their watch travel cases at all. If I was AP I'd make them a hexagon shape to play off the watch crown.

Hexagon watch case would be amazing

I was thinking hexagon as the crown is so shaped. But an octagon to play off the bezel would be fine too! Would be lovely with a nice big AP logo blind embossed into the lid.

i know. just giving you a hard time. Ive seen one too many video reviews of royal oaks where they refer to the hexagon bezel instead of octagon . The screws are hexagons too. i had never noticed that before always assumed they matched the bezel but its the crown.
