is this fake?

i need a new crown please im having a hard time to tell if this is fake. asking price is $80

It looks like a 100% original 24-702-0 crown to me !

It depends on the tube you are using on your midcase.

I am not sure if the early 16800 had a 702 crown and tube.

This 702 crown is specific of the 5512/3/4/7 and after service it is replaced by an improved crown and tube combo : the 24-703-0 which is more reliable in term of water resistance

Not sure if the 16800 came with a 702 or 703 tube back in the days.


Good move to differentiate a 702 from a 703 is the threads inside the crown. The 703 has a gasket (or o-ring) on the outside and the threads of the crown stops to fit the o ring.

The 702 has inside of it threads from the top to the bottom.

now im worried about buying this not bec of the authenticity but the fitment issue.... oh my! by the way, i have the early first mark1 16800 matt dial

Could you please take a picture of your tube with the crown pulled out to the set time position ? I will tell you which tube you have and which you crown you should go for

that i cant do at the moment since i dont have the tools yet.... but, i can change just the crown without touching the stem correct?

heres the early version and modern crown with stem and all i can see is the stem are different

The stem isn't a issue it can be replaced from the crown most important thing is the crown, and the threads on this one looks like it is a 24-702-0 crown
