1964 DateJust Model 1600 value

Hello -

I have what I believe is a fairly rare combination and hoped someone might have a general idea of value.

It's a DateJust model 1600 from 1964. Stainless steel, smooth bezel, black face, daphne hands, hourly tick marks (no roman numerals or numbers) and original jubilee Rolex band that's been restored (stretch removed). All original except for the crystal and other basic/typical parts being replaced after a full overhaul/servicing.

I see a low number of these with black faces and an even fewer with the daphne hands.

While I know a person can ASK whatever they want, this seller is asking $8500. Is that a total pipe dream or a reasonable ask, knowing you'd get a bit less?

Well...not really...

8500.00 is insanity for sure.

But 2k is too cheap.

The head will sell for more than that and the jubilee is probably worth 250.00-$350.00 by itself.

$2400.00 would not be an unreasonable price for the watch to ask. It won't push more than that. You might get a little more separately.

It's a 1600. Not a 1601 or 03. They bring a premium.

Black dial with Dauphine hands from 64...even a little more cool.

Probably doesn't add value but it might make it sell faster.

This is a 1503 in 18K gold. The certification is dated 1962 although I think the serial number may indicate its from a few years earlier. My question is this. The piece was inherited with a Speidel band on it! What would the original band have been? Leather? Gold links? If a gold link bracelet was available, how could I source one now? Thanks all

That is a gilt dial Datejust.

You'd be lucky if you can get that for $3000 USD head only.

These gilt Datejusts are rarer than your submariner gilts. Do a search and you'd see a plethora amount of gilt subs but couple of these gilt Datejusts.

That one looks like it is in very good condition, that is why it is priced as such. I have to agree that $8500 is high, but I have seen them sold for $5k-$6K in the past.

That watch can have a few bands. 6311 Swiss jubilee, oval link usa jubilee, Swiss rivet and USA rivet cheers.

No offense but this is kind of OT and maybe should have it's own thread.

It's confusing the topic a little.

You might get more mileage and information options if it was posted separately.

Once again no offense just was a bit hard to follow before I logged in and saw the photo. We were on 1600 stainless and all of a sudden we had a 1503 in 18k...:-)

Possibly rarer but that very often does not equate to value.

It is as I said also a 1600...MUCH rarer than a basic 1601 or 1603.
