End Pieces; what role do they play?

Could someone please tell me what part end pieces play? Do I (or are they even available) need them for my '51 Ref 6208?

The general consensus is a 19mm 7205 bracelet will fit but the only ones I can find all have end pieces; may the end pieces be removed?

You can remove them very easily. Then you could put aftermarket straight ends on.
It is one option if you can't find one that came originally with 19mm straight ends.

The flush fit end pieces will fit the watch as well but it looks cooler with straight ones :-)

Here is a parallel link. Probably on the smaller Royal.

And the tapered link.

So guess any 19mm aftermarket straight ends will do...?
