I think a NATO is good from time to time.

NATOs are great if you are active with your watches. I have many of my watches on NATOs and wear them when I run, swim, bike, etc. They dry quickly, clean easily, and look the part when worn with fatigues. Best of all, I'm not worried about scratches on the OEM bracelet. Cheers.

I dig NATO straps of all types. They are just comfortable to me. I will throw the bracelets on from time to time. Depends how I feel.

Always wore my pieces on a NATO when I was in the forces. Made perfect sense to me.

NATO and thank you Rolex...

I personally don't like the long folded NATO's as well, only the Tudor fabric strap which I think it looks and feels awesome. I wish Rolex would offer a free strap with their divers (Sub, Sea-dweller)like Tudor does

NATO and thank you Rolex...

Just got my first Nato a few weeks ago. Honestly I did not get it either but once you get one you might like it too. Give one a try!

I don't mean to offend anyone but I just can't find any virtue whatever to the NATO straps.

Thankfully, Rolex watches are all delivered with great bracelets which reduces the temptation to go NATO to a minimum. As a matter of fact, in the case of Patek Philippe, Blancpain and other watches which are worn with straps, I usually order custom Rousseau straps for a better fit.

All opinions or efforts to enlighten me are welcome, hateful or not.

Huh?

It's the relatively flimsy buckle on a nato that worries me.

I have a hard time understanding why anyone would start a thread simply to judge what someone else likes.
What kind of car do you have? I'll be sure to start a thread expressing my wonderment as to why anyone would drive such a $hit box!
Think about it....

Yeah it's a nice distraction and change up. What bugged me today is a sales person at an AD gave me the dirtiest look while saying, "What did you do to your Milgauss?" I mean a real stinkeye.

I expect that from my friend or this forum, but I that kind of rubbed me the wrong way.

I prefer my nato when I travel with my child bc I have scratched up my previous watches juggling a stroller, luggage, diaper bag and having bottles of milk tossed at me.... If I travel alone, I keep my ss bracelet on.

Some of us have larger wrists...no bulky left over material

I can't wear pre-ceramic bracelets due to my super skinny wrists, so NATOs for me are the best option. Good job I like them!

I love the look of the NATO all the different colours available and I see their good points. I like to swim wearing my watch and the steel drys quickly, I dont like the thought of a wet strap for hours so I don't wear a NATO personally.

I like NATO straps. They are very comfortable. But I don't like the added bulky material. So I modify my NATOs. It is easy...

1) Take 2 Quarters and clamp them on both sides of the strap with a vice grip pliers. Of course right at the point you want to cut it.

2) Take a pair of scissors and cut the material using the edge of the quarters as a guide. Get right up against the edge until you can't trim any more.

3) While still clamped between the quarters, take a lighter and melt the edges. You can use your fingers to mold the edges while the nylon is still hot.

Now you have a curved edge with a factory look. I also cut off the extra piece of strap that runs under the watch head. I just like the watch to fit closer to my wrist.

I like them in pictures although I don't think I'd do it myself. That said, I find the bracelets on Rolex's larger watches like the 44mm DSSD and YM II to feel and look proportionally a little thin. Saw a pic of a Deep Blue here on rubber and thought it looked better than a bracelet.

I am taking my Black bay to the Philippines in a few weeks and can't decide which strap to wear or even whether to put it back on the bracelet ?

Agreed!! I love the Nato straps. Although I don't personally own any, I think they add a rugged flair to any tool watch!

I adore my NATO. I unfortunately don't have a Sub yet but I could see myself swapping the bracelet out for one. Couple reasons:

1) It suits my personality better.
2) It saves a lot of bracelet wear.
3) I personally find it a little more comfortable.

I currently dive my Marathon TSAR. The real application for the NATO straps is diving/military.

Adds something different and saves the bracket/Plc getting hammered.

You can buy straps called Zulu that don't have the 2nd piece of material.

Also here is a question instead of buying NATO strap you have to clamp and cut and burn and glue.... why don't you just buy a two-piece nylon bracelet?

I love the 114060 on NATO.

The bracelet is fantastic, of course, but NATO is a great choice.
