Platinum DD blue hands and markers are they PVD?

Hi everyone. I think we've all seen the blue hands and Roman numeral dial on the Day Date 40mm, for example.

What makes those markers blue? PVD coating is my best guess.

They are NOT heat-blued steel.

Repeat NOT heat blued steel.

I have several watches with blued steel hands and the Rolex is different.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I saw that post before it was deleted. I had to scratch my head for a second on that one.

I've wondered this as well. They are way too dark blue to be the good old chemical/heat blueing. I have some old watches with blued hands and they are spectacular. I think a true vintage style "blued" hand set would be perfectly suited to a white gold or platinum day date.

I think they are heat blued steel...lmao. Kidding.

They are most likely gold, so I'm sure it's some 1 trillion $$ Rolex secret process.

Aware of the question at hand but how they're colored aside, wouldn't they be platinum on the platinum DD though? Or regardless of what pm the watch is made of, Rolex only uses gold across the board for the hands ?

I totally thought people were saying I would be banned!

So, are they white gold and treated blue? PVD or otherwise?

That would be interesting.

Omega has PVD blue hands on their wg Deville Prestige (old model still in the catalogue for now)

Omega also had a Pt annual calendar deville with blued gold hands and markers.

The hands and markers are white gold blued through heat oxidization by Rolex with a proprietary process to give them the contrasting blue color.
