Help with this 16700

Hi,
Still avidly looking for a GMT!
Please can people give their opinions on this 16700?
It's from 1998.
How does the case look? Does the dial seem original, or service dial? Same with the hands?
Thanks in advance!

Looks quite nice. What's the beginning of the serial number?

It's a tritium dial, but hard to tell about the hands because of the poor light-box photos. I'd much prefer to see photos in natural light. I'd ask for more/better photos, and ask about the hands. Maybe get a UV photo to make sure there's no glow. Case appears to have been polished, but looks decent.

If it's 1998, it'll be a late 16700 with a tritium dial, before the A-serial with the luminova dial, which was the last batch of the reference.

Looks to be very polished to me and I would look elsewhere being honest.

I bought a 1989 16700 yesterday with a faded bezel and will of course keep it but actually prefer the look of a new bezel, called Rolex service centre in King's Hill and they are £27, why would anyone buy an aftermarket bezel, doesn't make sense to me

Yeah, they had a lovely one in the Swiss Watch Shop last week, but it's gone now!
Any other decent places that you know of?

Really? Watch has definitely been polished, but looks like there's still meat on the lugs. The bracelet crown has been polished down a bit, but overall I'd say the watch doesn't look too bad, and I have extreme case OCD!

As for the bezel insert, what are you seeing that makes it look aftermarket? It looks identical to the insert on my 16700, to my eyes anyway, and this is a confirmed authentic insert that I bought myself at the RSC in NYC. (Or perhaps you mean the "bezel" itself, not the insert?)

Have you tried watchfinder? They have a place in Manchester Uk specialist watches have a good selection Mike Wood The Old Watch shop in Southport has a constantly changing selection and further afield uk vintage watches have some cracking watches plus Swiss watch shop in the royal exchange to name a few.

I have pm'd you but I don't think it's sent.
I went to RSC Kings Hill this morning and paid £40 plus vat for a new Pepsi bezel insert, that included fitting and a surcharge for me keeping my original faded bezel

If you want a 16700 from 98 I’d recommend a U-serial or later with a “Swiss only” dial.

I picked one up from RSC London shortly before it closed last year for it's refurb - it came in around £54 fitted on the basis that I retained to orignal one.
