The last thread didn't include ICE and hydrogen. I tried to make it fair by grouping 'Electric/Hybrid/Hydrogen' as one, though we all know ICE is gonna win.

I mostly collects Bugattis these days. When my wealth manager and counselor started driving Lamborghinis I knew I had to move on to avoid mixing with the help.

Legacy preservation I would suspect but the man is gone so he can’t comment.

But many believe the Old Man (affectionately known as) may have actually killed more of his own drivers and stifled more innovation than any other motorsports constructor only because it all suited him at the time. Larger displacements (lazy easy power), less safety (weight and aero reductions), larger gas tanks (more boom) etc…

And he knew passion was needed to sell road cars to fund his racing. I doubt he’d be ‘the first to do it’.

Ferrari has long been an innovator of using kinetic technology for hybrid power replication. Their F1 vehicles essentially simulated AWD with this technology years ago. I doubt Enzo would've wanted a completely soulless fully EV though, especially for road vehicles (even though in the past he saw no differentiation between road and track).

Is electric the death of the supercars?

Car companies like Bentley, Rolls-Royce and Maybach will thrive in electric cos they just need to focus on luxury not performance.

Which ones hold up at the track for day long testing without overheating the batteries I wonder....I wonder if any could make it thru a 24 hour race. I've yet to find an EV that does anything but beat ICE or hybrid in a straight line. I would call them more electric luxury cars, but that's just my opinion. You point is a fair one. However, the follow on generations will only really know this technology. It wasn’t really that long ago that supercars couldn’t even handle a days hard use at a track. Overheating brakes and clutches would bring an end to the fun. If they ever manage to have a 24hr EV race I will cry like a baby. Only real motorsport highlight for me annually is attending the 24hr Le Man race and Classic Le Mans and soaking up the Group C monsters and Porsche 935 etc

Fun races to watch aren't they. The mechanical symphony though are one of my favorite parts of watching. IMO EV are like quartz watches, while ICE are like mechanical. I just don't see any soul in the EVs nor the quartz watches. I think some of the quartz technology is very cool though, just not the same.
