I’d say being nice works with some (not all) ADs

That’s a great collection and maybe nice is part of it, but it does help you dropped 70-80k on watches.

Money always talks but yea I agree nice probably gave you the opportunity vs them going to someone else.

Just a hypothetical

You think “nice” would work if you only had one watch and you wanted the Daytona C. You think you are getting it?

That’s my problem I can be nice all day and maybe I do not have the means for multiple watches, but you are nice and have the cash for multiple watches that will win all day.

Nothing wrong with that either just business I guess.

Yes, that's the problem faced by young men looking to get their first rolex.
Walking into an AD, it's either lady's model or datejust in precious metal.
37mm AP RO Chrono in YG, and grand complication Patek in YG.

I don't see the point of buying a GOLD datejust 41 for my 17 yo son, so he can do what with it? Wear it to school?
I would be paranoid about his safety to wear that to college!
And he may need a YG Patek grand complication when he's 45, but not at 17!

As a mother whom never interested at watches until quite recently, I don't think it's worth the time and money to collect all the "desirable" models anyway.
GMT and SubC look the same to me (and all my female colleagues), with different colour or style of bazel.
Daytona --- ummm, how many people uses the chrono function on their watches? Iphone's timer is much more precise.

The first Rolex I bought, from the same dealer I bought the Pepsi yesterday, was a Datejust two-tone. That was when I first started working in advertising in 1984. The watches I posted on this thread are rather recent purchases. I’ve acquired others through the years. As well as watches of other brands. There was a time when I used to buy Patek Philippe watches, from a different dealer, at a substantial discount.

My point is that it always helps to be cordial and respectful. Even if your first Rolex purchase at an authorized dealer may no be a steel Daytona, eventually you might the first person called when one arrives. Of course, it also helps when you deal with honest people.

Thank you for the kind words.
