Just keeping it clean with soap and water in the first place.

Some bracelets have so much dark gunk in between links, all skin grease. It is fking revolting.

On a newer reference I think it makes more sense to just buy a new bracelet.

Bas, I have a question. Point out where you're seeing over polish. I'm just curious where that is on the watch.

I wear watches loose.......but.... I wash them with soap & water often. Minimal stretch.

PS we all stretch as we age!

Wear it tight AND above the wrist bone on the wrist. Those who wear it way down against their hand are placing twisting forces on the bracelet as they move their hand in various positions. Been wearing my YG Sub daily for two years now with no noticeable bracelet wear compared when it was new. And the links and pins are all 18K

This is why we should all have modern Day Dates.... they have ceramic bits within the bracelet to prevent any stretch

Keeping it clean is key

I think it is the combination of a dirty watch and wearing it loose that makes it wear much faster.

The ceramic bits are there simply because gold is a much softer metal than SS, and its bracelet wear and not stretch, the only way to stretch any metal is to heat it to a high temperature.

Rolex has stated even president bracelets with ceramic sleeves will still wear if not properly taken care of. They most likely went with these sleeves as this bracelet was notorious for excessive wear. Gold oyster links are "beefier" and maybe why there are no sleeves in them.

I can appreciate a few scratches but this was a little too hardcore for my liking

Womder Bas how much does Rolex charges for the new bracelet? Does the owner gets to keep the old one or is exchange only?

Been saying it for a while and plenty didn't want to believe. If you look at the area that is subject to wear on both the solid link and hollow link the amount of material is almost identical.

sometimes I think about the opposite. when it is a bit looser I can push it up my wrist when I know i'm going to bend the wrist (and avoid pressure). If it is too tight it sits closer to the wrist all the time and gets more pressure when I bend the wrist.

It looks good. Unfortunately i do not think that could be the case with all watches used while working and being cleaned with just soap and water. You mileage my vary.

The horror! Actually just glad to see a watch that has been worn, even if maybe a bit hard. Service, new bracelet, good as new. Wait, I gotta run get the toothbrush, I think my GMT might have some sweat on it from typing.

I don't know the price, have to check tomorrow.

Bracelets are just like all the other parts not returned to the customer. But Rolex has lost a few lawsuits where they eventually had to return old parts. If you really want the old bracelet back, you can have it back. But the price of the new one will be a bit higher.

X2!! Lets remember, it’s a watch, and meant to be worn as such! I’m not saying it should be abused, I’m just saying sometimes people pamper them waaaaay to much!

Serious question: how do you determine that it is worn on the wrist correctly? No movement/slide along the wrist?

I too have a GMT. The polished links will look much more worn than the brushed and esp jubilee where it has many more contours. Get a service, leather, a rubber strap. That's all you can really do. I love that you are wearing it daily.

That's good to know and makes sense.

Goes to show how important it is to look after your watch and keep it clean, thanks for sharing.
