Orient Watches?
Any general feedback? Never handled one, but a lot of them look nice. Not expecting too much since they are so inexpensive but just curious if they feel quality at all, etc. Thanks!

The bracelet feels cheap, otherwise... The entire watch package is solid value. The new movement has hacking seconds.

Have always held them in good regard for their value proposition. I own a mako II USA and have no complaints

They are great watches. They just do not have the following like Seiko has.

I have owned an Orient Mako blue for something around 8-9 years, though I just picked up a Rolex Sub Date. For the money, gosh, Orient is great value. Looks more expensive than it is, handles abuse well, and the bracelet/clasp has only now started to give problems right as it saw itself being retired by a Sub. I plan to toss the bracelet and put it on a new strap with new spring bars. I don't know what a Mako goes for now in price, but hey, in-house movement and no maintenance over 9 years of daily wear and no issues? Good watch. I recommend it.

They are so affordable and they do look more expensive than they are. I enjoy the various Bambino dress watches. For value divers, I buy Seikos. Take a look at the Seiko subforum.

Owned by Seiko, just in case you weren’t aware of that.
Mostly left to themselves, although not too long ago they had the Royal Orient line, which were almost a GS rival. Only a few models, but the movement (88700) was far better finished compared to the 9S at the time. Typically Japanese size at 38mm, since they were purely for the domestic market, but lovely looking all the same. Pity that they discontinued the movement and effectively downgraded the line to something akin to the SARBs/Presage – would’ve been interesting to see what they’d have been producing nowadays. |

Rose gold colored bezel
My bezel is rose gold. Also available in yellow gold or stainless steel. Not real gold, just colored or plated.

Scarlet Knight,
I have been searching for this model for a while and finally located one. Amazing quality for US$85. Arrived today.

I had a Black Ray raven 2 - great watch seemed to be built really well, the strap was bad...really bad, but i'm more of a nato guy so it was fine on the nato....sold it and have to say i kinda miss it some times!

Hey I just got my Bambino yesterday! Really like it but strap is super cheesy so I'll post a couple cool pics when I get back from vacation in a week with a proper strap on it. Thanks again for the contributions!

I have an Orient Defender. Wish it had a hacking movement, otherwise I love it. Ran me $120 on amazon. My other half was initially pissed and thought I dropped $3k on a new watch. They look like they are more expensive than they really are.

I'm a big Bambino fan, myself.
My only complaint is that 40.5mm is a little larger than I prefer, but honestly, that's minor considering the good looks and pricing. I have heard on good authority that Orient is coming out with 38mm models soon.

Nice Bambinos!
The Roman numeral ones have fooled people who think they are expensive. They are most definitely not. The off white one looks vintage. Look forward to 38mm Orients!

I have the Orient Bambino Open Heart and think it’s a fantastic watch.
I also have a sneaky suspicion that for my birthday at the end of the week I may be getting an Orient Maestro (with blue dial) - looks great in the pics, 40mm and they’ve used standard lug widths now which is better for strap changing. |
