Not one i’d personally want to wear or own, but to each their own.

Had it not been mentioned in the video segment, I wonder if the demand would be as high as the article suggests.

I just cannot get excited about this kind of thing anymore, and unfortunately all the talk around Rolex on matters of short supply, secondary marketplace values and investment potential just bores me. It is turning me off the brand altogether, and even denting my enthusiasm for the hobby of collecting as a whole.

I tried one on today, the dial is absolutely beautiful!!! It goes from black to deep green when looking in different angles. Made the black dial I also tried look boring in comparison.

This NYT article is going to be something we look back on if prices fall precipitously in the future. We are going to cringe reading the following quotes:

"High demand for its sports models, particularly among millennials, drove up value on the secondary market and fortified a sense among aficionados that Rolexes are wearable stocks."

"risk-free fun"

"The feeling of having something that’s rare and that everybody wants is so much more valuable"

I’ll just be the first to come out and call it the ‘Mayer Effect,’ nothing more than a self fulfilling prophecy as mentioned before. Sure it’s a cool piece with very few said to be made etc, but in these crazy times everyone is looking for the next horse to latch their wagon to... more fodder for the watch speculator editorial society I guess

I agree, but I’m not turned off to the brand or watches though. But I’m sick of all the complaining.

Well done to Rolex for creating such incredible demand and attention after being in biz so long. Anyone here would love to own a biz with this much demand.

I swear I loved this watch before all the recent hype. I tried it on last year at an AD and told myself I would buy it in 2019 when some more funds become available. Then the price sky rockets. Lucky me.

If people are buying a YG rolex on spec because JM says so then my 5164 should be absolutely headed for the moon as it is the watch he was actually wearing and doting over.

Yeah, I cringed at the "risk-free fun" comment too. Of course, it was said by a watch BROKER. Clearly, a comment that serves his best interest.

Ironically, it is currently true and will be until it's not...
