Hi all, I just joined and wanted to say hello and ask some questions. This may get long so don't get too bored

. I really want a submariner with the black dial/bezel with the SS bracelet. I'm only 13(almost 14) so my parents think I'm a idiot for wanting a Rolex. They also don't really want to spend the cash cause I would probably put too much wear and tear on it. What do you think about his matter? My other question is what is the difference between the 50th anniversary sub besides the green bezel?

Hello and welcome to our crazy forum. I don't think you are an idiot to want a Rolex at your age, I think I wanted a Ferrari at that age and still hanker after one. It just shows you have good taste and it's a watch that would last you a life time. Good luck with your desire.

As far as the 50th anniversary goes (or Kermit as we like to call it) there are also larger markers on the dial at the hour points. I'm sure there may be other differences and I'm sure one of our experts will be able to enlighten us.

Now that is an important consideration................it's probably why I don't have a Ferrari.

If you have any questions regarding your eventual acquisition of a Rolex watch feel free to ask away. One of the hallmarks of a good forum is that there are no silly questions (well, not too many). Now if we're also enjoying ourselves you may see some silly answers. However, all questions will be treated with the level of seriousness and honesty they deserve (some more than others).

By the way, don't worry very much about beating up a Rolex sport watch. They are really built to handle a lot --- some have even been known to survive all the way to high school.

(Here I start already. Don't take me seriously).

Sooo, set up a watch fund and let it grow. I'll bet if you keep those grades up you can even manage contributions from your family. GOOD LUCK!

There is nothing wrong with wanting one at such a young age. I wanted a Rolex since I was 8 or 9 since my dad, mom and many of our relatives had them.

At your age I would suggest you and your parents do what mine did, if it is within their means, buy one now and put it away till you are ready. This suggestion comes simply because it is what members of our family did knowing that Rolex prices only raise.

I will be honest with you, my parents bought one for me when I was 12, but by the time I was old enough to wear it the price had increased more than $1500 CDN.

Well you see, I stumbled upon this awesome forum by searching "Rolex Submariner reviews" on Google. Then I read some well make that all of the threads in the General Rolex part of the forum and I liked it, so I joined. Hope that answers it lol.
