Question for owners of 5711 and 5980

Hello all,
I have a question for owners of both the 5711 and the 5980. I currently own a 5711 and love it but have found myself obsessing over the 5980 (steel w/ blue dial). My question is would it be redundant to own both the 5711 and the 5980? Are there any here who own both? If so, do you find yourself wearing one more than the other? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

5980

5980 all the way. I don't have the 5711 reference though. I own 2 5980s in Rose Gold and Rose w strap and it is a fantastic watch. IMO, 5711 can be bypassed for 5980. I also want the SS version!

I was in a similar dilemma just few months ago, I was so obsessed with 5980ss to a point that I was going to sell other watches for it, but in the end I didn't. Owning one nautilus is quite sufficient IMO, you might want to look into other PP models to compliment one another

Hi Carlos,

I've both 5980SS in blue & 5711P (going to add the SS version of the very classic 5711).

Both are great watches indeed and I enjoy wearing them.

I have a 5980 and would like to add a 5711. I think they are different enough to have both. You could get a 5980 with a black dial to further distinguish it from the 5711 (assuming you have 5711 blue).

both are very different - I am looking to add the 5711 and already have the 5980.

I'd add a chrono from the complications line-up instead.

Two very different watches. One's slim and classy, while the other is a big sporty brute.

I would get the 5711 in blue so would look to get the chrono in gold or at least a different dial colour but would rather save up for a 5970.

I have both in SS with blue dials. Very different watches both visually and how they feel on the wrist. You can't to wrong with a 5711 as an investment either. Get both!

I'm personally trying to justify buying the rose gold 5980 on bracelet while already having it in SS. Also worried that the RG will be an even bigger scratch magnet than its steel counterpart.

Unless the 5980 is the luxurious 5980R with the superb luscious brown dial!

Also a great one to pair with the simply elegant 5711/1A

I agree, whilst not the biggest fan of the 5980 the rose gold version is stunning, I think I even prefer the version on a leather band (I know you used to have one and I saw one at an AD, it looks amazing).

Carlos, I don't think it would be redundant as they still look pretty different but myself would prefer the 5712 to the 5980 (unless, again, if you are considering the rose gold version on a band).

Thanks everyone! Man those 5711p shots are beautiful!! I thought the blue on my 5711 dial was striking (and it is) but it really pops on the p!

I really like the chrono layout on the 5980 as well as the added heft from the thicker case and bracelet. From the opinions I'm reading here I think there is enough of a difference to justify owning both! Thanks again for everyone's input!!

personally, I dont see the need for 2 nautili...id go 5711, and then either 5170 or ALS datograph...if anything, get the 5980 in a different metal....

have a 5711 I wear every so often . I like the 5980 but wont buy one as id rather have either a 5164 or a 5960 instead , reason being I really don't need two from the nautilus range .
