We are in control

Do not attempt to adjust your set.

We will control the horizontal and we will control the vertical

You have just entered.....

I think TRF is controlled by very powerful forces.

After all, they have the ability to turn us from black to gold to purple!

You mean someone is actually in control of this place?

I thought it was a free-for-all....

The reason why this thread may be locked is because of people like me that have owned various websites and message boards. Although, very costly to run and operate one...it is freaking profitable.

Imagine for one second that you can post here all day and get paid for it, as an owner. There are other sites I know of where the owner pulls in 6 figures with advertising. This site has very few advertising compared to others but there are a lot of members. With members and viewership it increases the spots for advertising.

This site has huge potential and without telling too much trade secrets...I will explain a couple more things.

If this site was to be sold...It can easily sell for 6 figures. Possibly for XXXk with proof of income and advertisers. It has great SEO.

With the amount of traffic, I am surprised nobody is pitching Ad space to the big watch companies.

Rolex doesn't need to advertise here... so which other big watch company did you have in mind?

HenryCA, I think you are way off-target with most of your comments. The only advertising banner is at the bottom of the page, and it clearly states it is provided FREE of charge for watch related sites. This site has no paid advertising, and is beholden to no one. Membership is voluntary, and you can join and participate without charge.

What it may or may not be worth is redundant speculation, as you base your comments on many incorrect assumptions.

Anyway, just enjoy the pics and discussions on watches, and learn from others experience and share opinions. This is what makes this a great place to hang out

I do see your point, BUT...

It is possible that the powers that be truly just want an ad free place where we can come together and talk abut our passion of watches/Rolex. It is also a plausible assumption that those powers that be don't do it for the money in this case.

I like that. It's much cleaner minus the ad campaigns blaring all around.

I'm pretty sure his name is Archie. He's from Australia, likes luxury items, and obviously doesn't need the ad money a site like this could generate

We're not surprised that you're surprised.

You don't know the character of the admin and mods. We are enthusiasts and run this place revenue neutral (pledges = DOS protection and site admin fees). We earn our individual crusts elsewhere.

We are fully aware that certain organisations would love to turn this place into a bannerfest.

It wouldn't be TRF anymore. It would be an advert site using the brand name Rolex inappropriately. Not wise if you know what I mean.

We are also aware you posted a similar thread previously.
