Congrats on the trade, a good decision in my opinion.

Funny how no one really cares for 5270 till Patek changed the dial, guess they achieved what they wanted, got people's attention and interest.

Thank you Gus.

Believe me when I tell you that I was shaking a bit when I had to handle the 5170. For me it came down to complication really (MORE BANG FOR THE BUCK) at the end.

I always doubt a little the purchase of the 5170 because of its price just to get a chronograph . Sure, the breguet numerals and the movement alone keep me sane at night, but still!

So when the 5270g opportunity came along it was the more logical step even if it was more money. If you get the 5170 + a perpetual calendar it can even be more, than the good price I was offered for the 5270 (which in my humble opinion) has everything going for it. I dont know Gus.. the good thing is that I am happy but still havent had the balls to set it up! Maybe tonight will be a special night

Oh, and I agree about the pregnant, jay leno chin. I preffer the more clean cut look. For me at least.

You never appreciate something until its gone. I guess Patek lives by this motto.

I'm empathetic regarding the new dial, I just like the cleaner dial and its uncluttered appearance of the original. Yes it would be nice to have the tach, but not at the expense of other attributes. Also, how many of us really, really use a tach. On the new dial, that dip at 6 o'clock and the crowding and smaller 120 just doesn't grab me. I would have like it had they done it like the 5970. Also the "dip" has a noticeably smaller 27 than the original on the moon phase dial.
I hope to be joining you "very soon".
Thank you JW. Cant wait to see you joining us soon. Its really a great piece. This is really at another level. Very special indeed.

I agree, no one on their right mind will hide the movement, but I was told that if you want to engrave the watch, thats what the case is for.

yours are great shots!!!!

i feel guilty taking credit for my camera, mostly about shooting a few hundred pics and looking for 1 thats fun:)

i think 1 of the members says this in his signature:

there is a fantastic amount of light play in that dial, a true chameleon

Great shot, looks like you've trapped a piece of the Sun in the dial
