I am 90% convinced this is my next AP. But still need to try out myself. I am generally not so fond of grey unless it's very metallic. I actually never own a 42mm ROO before so this is a first.

Actually my first AP love was the RGRC which has a grey dial so I am partial to grey, but it would have to be darker on an SS model to provide some contrast and depth for me, and this does look more like that outdoors. Grey pushers look cool too.

I'm famous! I was wearing both in that picture. Both are beautiful. The only thing I can say about the ghost is that the photos don't do it justice.

The strap looks blueish at the photos, it is

I’ve got mine from an AD in Paris, not from a boutique though.

In the US, boutiques get all new models first and they get the best pieces typically.

In Asia too.

Interestingly, when I visited the boutique at St. Honore street, there were no stainless RO/ROC/ROO. All sold out. Too many tourists looking for the hot popular models.

Mixed feelings usually means a pass. I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I didn’t like the watch one bit. And the super light grey strap is not helping either - looks pretty cheap.

I saw it in a boutique two days ago and passed immediately.

The two tone strap on both 42mm are really horrible IMO. At least there are some decent options to swap out for.

Plus

Very light and comfy
grey ceramic is more unique
Love the TT strap

Minus

can look “wash out” under certain lighting, ie lack pop factor
grey ceramic bezel while nice, is no cermet... sigh
Fitting existing diver straps need a new buckle

As for discount, from boutique, no discount of course but my local AD can get a 10% discount. It seems at least over in Far East, availability isnt an issue yet.

Sounds like the pros outweigh the cons for you, esp if you like the current strap.

Has anyone seen these elsewhere? I saw 2 in dubai and sold within same day. With AP closing down ADs curious if inventory will be scarce or not. By comparison every AP boutique I’ve been seems to carry at least one 26400 RG and usually will even discount vs 42 ceramic

For just a bit more, will it make more sense to go for the Ti44 instead?

I think so... Novelty I think is way better, the 42 dial is too busy - can't emphasize as much as I love the ceramic pushers + bezel, it reminds me a refreshed rubberclad and at $28K list w/no discount for me it's a no

Grey Ghost is a winner. One of the most interesting variations of the 42mm ROOC. In Bal Harbour I was told they expect to receive three this year.

Every Grey 42 in the US is pre-sold except Beverly Hills, where I bought mine. I called every US boutique and all had deposits since March, 2018, except LA boutique. It will be well into 2019 before any are available. Each boutique getting 5-6 according to the boutiques. No discounting. We will see.

I have one coming. Still a little torn between this and the 116519LN (had it before but want to get it again).

Having seen both, I think the 42mm is more interesting based on the color of the bezel alone.

This piece is not boutique only. Although boutiques will see the first set of them. It’s a regular production piece.
