Someone said all M series have 3186 movement. How about Z series? Some were told only late Z. So how late is late? Better to buy M series to be sure than Z series. Only Z series is in question. If your late Z series is not 3186 nevermind just buy a 3186 explorer 2 and do a switch. Lol.

Service dials are not stick dials. I know, I just had one replaced.

but Z9 has a 3186 most probably, I have not seen a Z9 with 3185, Z8 should be 3186 also. The lowest I have seen with a 3186 is a Z66, So Z6 would be the borderline, though I have seen some threads talking about a Z3 with a 3186 causing many suspicious comments. For those who have nasty ideas about doing a Frankenwatch, if they buy a D or F serial, these watches had only 3185 originally, so not sure who they will be fooling. It can only be a 2007/8 production, the clasp should give you another indication of the year. so buying an Exp2 with a 3186, a GMT M2 with a late Z and a clasp EO"x", then pay to swap the movements, of course they need to have the correct papers (credit card warrantee) : not sure how economic or realistic this would be. The smart guy who has this idea needs to look for something else . . . |

My co worker got a stick dial as a service dial and so have many on here. There is nothing rare or unique about the stick dial it is just a font change/variation as Rolex has done for decades.

What crack me up is you can buy an explorer II with 3186 movement at normal prices.

You say only god knows why, but you've answered the million dollar question right there above. But first, you need to accept the fact that a market value driven by internet hype, is simply just the "market value". The price on this particular model has only gone up. You don't need to like it, and, you obviously don't have to buy one, and you certainly don't need to approve of how people spend their money... but I think it's boswellworks that you can't accept that this model is frankly hard to find and the price only continues to rise. |

"Sticks" adds a bit of personality to the watch. Conversation opportunity. At the right price, but not at a premium bump in price. Then I'd rather tell 'em I saved $$$$ buying Roman numerals.

Rare items command top prices , just like a flat floor e type, Low number production , 2.8 rsr , low number production , Ducati 888 sp4 ,low numbers , yes they did produce 30,000 GMT 16710 s with the 3186 movement ,but in the grand scheme of things ,that's not many , basically can you afford the premium , there not all of a sudden drop in value , why would that happen , so you pay your money ,and if you don't then I'm sure someone else will

I would say 16710LN and 16710N are the most demanding for the true collectors. Try to find one for sale. I only was able to find 3 in existence so far. I’m sure there are more, but it’s the rarest modern Rolex I know of
