Depends what you want it for.

The OP39 is probably a better daily wearer, being more discreet and with brushed links.

In the flesh, the Milgauss is a good bit flashier than it looks in the photos. The Mille draws attention to itself from across a room, and the PCLs are a potential scratch magnet for daily wear.

Agreed. For me, the Milgauss is fantastic, whimsical, brilliant, I'd love one, but clownish. My grandpa wouldn't have worn it. It doesn't have the kind of casual confidence and stylish grace that would mark a gentleman. I'm glad the Milgauss is in the collection, it's a bold look, but for me I'll take the OP39, even if the price was par.

Milgauss.
I loved the new OP a lot, but when I tried it on my wrist, it felt 'flimsy'? Maybe I'm just too used to the chunkiness of my Milgauss

OP39 all day. Much more versatile IMO so depending on collection I could see a place for Milgauss but I would go OP39.

Milgauss.
But it is a flashy, fun watch.
I love all the colors.
Love the lightning bolt.
It’s a fun watch to wear.
Not for everybody, but it is a breath of fresh air in the lineup.

I looked at these two in person. Finally tracked down a blue dial OP. I have to say the blue was a bit dissapointing on the OP. It looked rather dull compared to the blue in other rolexes or competitor modles. Bummer! The lack of lume on the OP doesn't help much either.

I'm glad the Milgauss is divisive. That is what makes it a good watch. Who wants something bland enough that everyone likes it (but if you want your grandfather's watch - the OP is for you).

I finally tracked down a blue OP 39 in person. I was a little disappointed. The blue does not have the beauty of the blue in the Milgauss or Sub (or yacht master). It seemed a little dull and grey in comparison. The lack of lume was also a disappointment. The black or white might be a better choice.

One of the things I like about the Migauss is that it is divisive. To me that is the mark of a good design – it inspire passion rather than the generic style that no one hates. And yes, my grandfather probably wouldn’t pick the Milgauss – to me that is a good thing!

I had the zblue a year back, sits too high and top heavy but everything else was fantastic about it. For about a month or so.
Sold it and ironically as this thread. Bought a 36mm OP from the proceeds and never looked back.

OP39 for sure. My favorite Milgauss is the white and orange model, don’t care for the current models.

If the blue OP39 came with the same lume indices as the white/black models or the Milgaus, I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

But I'm not sure I like the Milgaus either. I actually think I prefer the OP39 over it, and like I stated above, I'm not a fan of only 3, 6 and 9 having lume. With that said, go for the OP39. It is a bargain.

Since you want a blue dial, have you considered the Omega Seamaster Aqua Tera. I know I am going to get flamed over this, but out of those 2 choices, I'd get that instead.

I asked myself the exact same question about a month ago. Went back and forth between the 39 White oyster perpetual and the Z Blue Milgauss.

This is my only Rolex, mind you.

Ultimately I picked the blue milgauss. It’s big, flashy, in your face...and probably over priced. The white OP was none of those things and made the most sense.

But ya know what...buying a Rolex makes zero sense to begin with so why not get something a little over the top and uncommon.

I have never seen another Millie on anyone else’s wrist and I love that.

I just sold my OP39 blue this week and already regret it a bit!
Obviously it gets my vote

Now here is another contender
I went into the AD to buy a milgauss blue they ordered it in so i could see it .as i looked in the window before going in to view the millgaus i saw the air king and loved it..went in shop viewed both together the air king screamed out for me to buy it.i loved the dial the none shine center link ..was not till i got home with the watch that I looked it up i found it has the milgauss case workings ..and bracelet the link to the bloodhound world speed car clocks...am i happy with my purchase i am delighted..and as a bonus i did buy a milguass that day ..as a bonus it was a bargain £1500 cheaper than the blue one .. with better dial, a dial with charactor..that could appreciate in the future..i love the watch it reminds me of an old English Smiths w10 military watch only bigger and better.....if you see one of these watches in real life you may change your mind with the milgauss and the 39 OP...is the air king 2016 a future classic...possibly

It will probably hold its value better too. Although there is a price differential new, it seems like the older ones (Explorer and black or white Milgauss) sell for similar prices used.
