Thank you!

This answers a burning question I've had for a while. OK...maybe not burning, but simmering perhaps.

Yes clearly a market and not easy to find mint, complete sets that's for sure. When you do you are paying up. The market is what it is but clearly some of those prices are a stretch. I am glad I have one but also glad I bought it right.

It was never an "error" dial, just a variation in the font. Also, yes, confirmed, sans-serif dials are being used as service dials. I held a 1980s 16760 in my own hands just returned from the rsc with a sans-serif dial

It's interesting how high the premium is for the 3186 GMT, but I got caught up when buying my 3186 Explorer 2. That was before I found out about the known issue with the 3186 Hour Click Spring.

No way I'd pay a premium for any 3186 now, unless it was just going to be a safe queen collection piece.

Interesting. So RSC will sell you or trade you a part for a watch if it was originally offered on that watch. When I went to RSC to try to purchase a jubilee that would fit my watch I was told it was not an option for my reference and therefore had no bracelet to offer me for sale. I end up buying a 63600 in the classifieds that fits perfectly but that bracelet was made for a 36mm DJ.

Weird that RSC literally told me no jubilee was offered for my 16710.

If u got m series but no 3186 movement u can buy an explorer 2 16570 m or v series with 3186 and fit it on a gmt. And price goes up a few fold.

That sounds ethical. The hobby needs more of this.

Would not be surprised if this is not already going on with some unscrupulous dealers 3185 out 3186 in, afraid the WIS type has made a rod for his own back..

Maybe because there's no m series without 3186 movement ...

I saw one the other day. stick dial + 3186 + pepsi + really low production numbers ( late Zs and M serials) + last gmt with connections to the past = CRAZY PREMIUM!

Yeah, me too. I actually ended up just choosing lug holes + SELs over the 3186 in my Exp II.

This 3186 thing is nonsense.

Explorer 2 16570 with 3186 movement should be in premium too. But it did not.

Yeah, it really just goes to show that it's more about collectibility than function, since the 3186 Exp IIs were a lot more plentiful.

Due to the click spring issue, I'm not sure I'd even pick a 3186 over a 3185 for the same price, but, hey, I'm not a collector, so I wouldn't pay much extra for things like red lettering or different fonts, either.

I love the white dial on a strap. I'd pick a Y serial with lug holes over a 3186 all day every day.
