Maybe, but only if the block case goes and is refined with better lines.

Wow, so much hate for this watch. I am a sucker for anything that is red, white and blue. I would wear this if the hands were original. This would absolutely be my Friday watch for work. We wear red polo shirts every Friday as our way of showing support for the troops (we are all retired vets) and this watch would be perfect as a Friday watch.

Why would I want to pay double for something that looks fake especially since I already have the real Submariner.

Finally! Someone who admits they don’t hate the watch. Let’s face it, we’ve all seen worse, and this isn’t all that bad. I’m not saying I’d buy one, the price is ridiculous, but I kind of like it. The shade of blue, the red markings, not bad.

Admit, schmadmit. That implies most people are saying they hate it because they're succumbing to peer pressure and are embarrassed to admit otherwise. I can't speak for anyone else, but I find this watch to be an empty exercise in fixing what wasn't broken. I'll grant that it's not the worst watch I've ever seen, but that's only because, at its core, it's still a Submariner. There isn't a single modification on this that improves on the original, imo. I honestly wouldn't pay anything for it, let alone over $20k.

Edit: after looking at it again, I stand slightly corrected. The blue of the dial is nice. If Rolex put out a stainless blue Sub with that shade of dial and matching bezel, while keeping everything else standard, that would be a pretty nice watch.

It’s comical because if they did release it and it was going for double msrp on the grey market, most here who said pass would be clamoring for it. Don’t believe me? Go search the WG Pepsi posts from a few years back!

Looks like any generic diver model out there right now.

A Sub should look like a Sub IMHO.

I didn’t mean to imply that people were succumbing to pressure, after all, just don’t post if you’re not comfortable expressing yourself. While there may be some bandwagon jumping, there is more of what seems like indignation (how dare they desecrate such a revered and classic timepiece?!?).

And to me, almost any modded Rolex is fixing something that isn’t broken, but it’s been going on for years, somebody likes it from time to time.

As someone said, if Rolex put this out, I’d bet the reaction would be different. I see lots of watches that I like, not enough to buy it, but not bad to look at. And this one has a great ticker.

Nope. I'm OK with the colors, but the hands are terrible. I love sword hands, but the base of the hour hand is too thick, making it less sword-ish… And that second hand? WTF is that? It doesn't even look like it has any lume in it. Also, I have a bias against second hands where the "pip" is all the way at the tip. Give me a 5517 or a 5513 (w/3-6-9 dial) over this, any day.

Only thing that really intrigues or interests me about this special model is the polishing/sandblasting technique applied to the case and bracelet.

I'd bet my own Sub that most people here would be saying Rolex had jumped the shark by trying to clone Omega.

That has to be one of the ugliest modifications I've ever seen.

It looks like someone on psychedelics got into the parts bin.

I doubt you’d find strong support, but the response to this watch is as one sided as I’ve ever seen, for a custom job that, to me, isn’t all that bad.

I can think of a lot of watches from other brands that look a lot like that without the $22k price tag.
