Take a loss on a new gmt black to get a BLNR

So I bought a black stainless gmt from my AD. They kept calling me with about watches I figured go ahead and buy the gmt to get that relationship going to show him I am a guy that makes quick decisions and I am always available . Should I take a loss on my black gmt new in box to get a blnr ? Does the black and blue bezel really matter or am I just getting caught up in the high of having a rare watch right now ? I figure gmt can sale local 7500 ASAP. But then we all know the price of the blnr over retail. Guide me fellow members!!! What would you do ?

Personally, I wouldn't take the loss. Enjoy the GMT! :)

So in other words you thought you could make a quick buck but realised the watches are not so hot now and the prices you got offered by a gray dealer is not as appealing as it was 12 months ago? LOL

That is what I was thinking. Get off my high horse and break it out of the coffin and wear it. Only half a bezel color separates the watches. Maybe just wait for my AD to get one at retail then have both. I just won’t pay above retail right now since I have the regular gmt already. Plus hulk is costing me a pretty penny above retail That I hope to get Monday

Well... did you by the LN because you liked it or because you wanted to make an impression on the AD? If the latter then flip it. But I'd caution you first not to buy a Rolex you don't absolutely want, including the BLNR.

Personally I chose the LN over BLNR, both were available and I tried them both on at the same time. BLNR is great in pictures, but that didn't translate to my wrist.

I would..... if you can get the 7,500 you won’t loose much and whatever you do loose you will gain it back with the BLNR if you ever want to resale it. If you pass on the BNLR I believe the “ what if” will hunt you. I personally love the black/blue ceramic bezel.

I say go for it!! But make sure you love it and wear it.

I dig the LN for versatility over the BLNR. Owned both, kept my LN.

If you really only bought it to prove some loyalty to the AD in hopes of getting something hotter, then move it asap.

No never thought to make a quick buck. I do not want the risk of selling a watch. I know nothing about selling them. If I dump I just take back to my dealer. Like my dd40 I just sold. I probably could have got more on the forum for it but I was scared to post it. I know nothing about selling

Yes above. I bought it because they had called me about 3 stainless steel watches within 7 days from my initial stop by store. No other AD had called me from the 6 seeds I had planted at stores. I felt that if I didn’t buy one they were not going to call me anymore. When I replied and got the deal done he said you are correct you are a fast customer. I want a relationship with an AD. You have to remember I have never bought a new watch period. They have all been lightly used. So I did buy the watch to get this relationship going I did not buy it to attempt to become a flipper dealer or anything like that

I'd keep the LN. I actually like it better than the BLNR although the BLNR takes nice photos, the LN is more classy and timeless.

I'd keep the GMT-LN and get the BLRO later, just skip the BLNR altogether

Yes, to me the black and blue bezel totally matters, as I absolutely prefer the all black bezel! So personally, I'd stick with what you already have. That said, you should own the watch you like most.

To each his/her own. What would I do? If I wasn’t crazy about a watch then I’d need to try it on before making the decision. From the tone of your message, it obviously sounds like you have no idea if you’d like it or not, but to each his/her own. I have a BLNR and I love it. When I was purging my collection down to two and I came to the decision of which black dial I was going to keep, I went with the BLNR over my SubC. Just my .02

the watch is brand new in coffin and you are willing to sell it under msrp
a watch that AD would sell full pop to other eager buyers?
I take that $1000 from you all day long..

BLNRs aren't rare. Period. Full stop.

I know six people in real life with them and four are all at the same company. They're more common than the black Sub Date.

Don't buy a watch because you think availability is this or that. Don't buy a watch to build a false relationship with your AD. Everyone has a credit card these days and can buy in seconds. Instead, buy a watch because you actually like it. You'll make fewer mistakes this way.

Your money, do whatever you want.

I would not take the loss. BLNR are not rare.

I agree with your thinking, why take a loss on a half blue bezel colour? I’d keep the one you’ve got.

I was looking to buy an Ln for awhile, the only thing that kept me from it was having a SubC as l felt it would be a little redundant. One day recently my AD called to have a look at a Blnr. Sold. Yes, the bezel is beautiful and exquisite. If l didn't have the Sub l would have been very happy with the Ln. If l were a one watch guy it would be the Ln as well. I would not take a loss and pay grey pricing for a half blue bezel. no no no. The green on your Ln is very sharp looking too.

I fully agree with the above! Always buy what you actually like. Trying to become a BFF with an AD by loosing money in a potential flip is not wise imho and likely disappointing. When I hear these type of stories I think it's somewhat sad what the Rolex market has come to. That said, I've had my GMTIIC LN for over 9 years and think it's a handsome versatile watch and still like it very much. Good luck in your decisions. Cheers!

Take a loss on a new gmt black to get a BLNR

LN is great watch. You mentioned you are getting an LVc so if you don’t have a classic sub I would say stay with the GMT ln. I think an all black bezel GMT or Sub are the two most versatile Rolex sports watches and a staple in any collection.

Enjoy your watch!! Congrats. Be patient, work the AD, and get the BLRO next. It will look great with the Hulk you have coming and this one. (The black is more versatile).
