The Collectables!

I hope the title isn't misleading ... but I've been looking around recently for some non Rolex watches that are vintage or collectors watches.. something more on the affordable side (between £1k-£2.5k maybe). Ideally something that can hold value (almost) on the long run as I will pass it down to my kids as well. I will be looking into Rolex in future as the ones I want are over £4k.

Any recommendations, with model numbers? Cartier, Omega, Tag, JL , Zenith etc

What collections have you got??

Omega is the best for resale.
Heuer (pre Tag) chronographs are very popular.
LeCoultre is popular as well, they made alot of their watches in gold filled, I would stay away from them. A good rule for any brand though.
Cartier, Zenith and Tag are not good resale watches and I would stay clear of them, if resale is an important consideration.
You could get a nice chronograph in that price range, but more expensive to repair as well.
Maybe a gold pie pan Constellation
Automatic Memovox. (Automatic is larger than manual wind.)
A dive watch from Omega or LeCoultre.
Mostly depends on your taste.

Thank you for the reply.
I was considering buying the omega seamaster professional 300m Model 2531.8000 (Same model as James Bond movie), seems like a great watch plus holds value. Found one for £1100 - Box and paperwork.
Funnily enough I was looking into the LeCoultre Memovox before I wrote the post .. cant seem to find one with all the original parts .. reasonable price.
Not found any Heuers's yet .. il look into the chronographs.

Would you say a 1960's constellation Pie Pan with Original Box Papers, Receipt (so they claim) for £1700-£1900 is a good price? Looks great, simple, small and slick.

120 seamasters are very overlooked ,,, great every day wear and cant loose cash ,,, older divers are creeping up ,, titan may be interesting , or a nice accutron space view ,, oyster quartz , or maybe an omegamatic , the dynamic is a lot of watch with or without chrono ,, iwc mark something engineur , or yacht club , or the likes spring to mind too. but , buy what you like and will enjoy wearing , the money side is only a bonus.

Take a look at the various pre-owned offerings from Zenith. They produce some elegant high quality watches with in-house movements. If your in the market for a dress watch, look for one of the designs in the "Class" series with the Elite movement. All Zenith watches rank high in quality versus cost.

Would the Tudor's with acrylic crystal, such as a Snowflake, be a good bet?

I've been told neither Zeniths and Tudor hold value .. esp in long run. No sure though as everyone has own opinions.

I do love the Omega moonphase :O Just out my budget though!
