A good looking watch. I am on hold for the SLA033 but will look at this one later in the year.

I'm a fan of Japanese versions and waiting for a 15% eBay coupon before I buy the SBDY031.

I bought the Orange Turtle SRPC95J1 and it'll arrive Monday at my office from Hong Kong.

The only difference between the two watches is the warranty. You will have a Seiko warranty on the ones sold in the US. Not so with the 031, it is only valid in Japan.

Oh I forgot about that. But it isn't worth a warranty consider all the qc issues on the Turtles.

New Turtle Special Edition

One is made in Japan one is made in Malaysia. The quality of the finish is better from the ones made in Japan. I have held watches from both countries and see it. I believe the Urban Gentry on YouTube did an up close detailed comparison and you can see it. I prefer my Seikos to be fully made in Japan with it labeled on the dial not outsourced to another country. Now that eBay is charging sales tax I have been purchasing from vendors in Japan. You recommended a jewelry store that is charging full retail. I found a popular Japanese seller with shipping for $440. That’s a little more than Long Island Watches which is not Japanese assembled and finished, but for me in the long run, it’s not a lot and worth it to me

This has been debated to heck and back. Only Seiko knows for sure which one is made in Japan and which one is made in Malaysia. I have also owned both models and I see no difference in finishing. I can tell you the one that was suppose to have been from Japan did not have a lined up chapter ring.

If you have info from Seiko showing or stating a J model means it is made in Japan then please share it.

I don't buy into the 'one is made in Japan' and 'one is made in Malaysia' debate. The only difference is the markings on the watch to show the country origin of sale. I'm pretty sure you agree with this. And they might indeed be made in several different countries, but that is not what the markings are for. I find it hard to believe Seiko would identify a batch of watches as inferior to another batch by marking the watches with lettering.

I agree with you. I believe the markings designate the country it is sold in.

I got to see this model yesterday at my AD. Very nice looking but already sold and waiting for pickup. I like the dial and the shark fin at the 8 marker. Might add it down the road.

you wont be disappointed - stunning! and not just at the price point - so far runs about + 5 secs per day and no quality issues that I can see and mine is no doubt "just" the made in malaysia version

Bill, you rascal! You got me so excited about that watch that I couldn't resist. It is gorgeous! One of the most beautiful dials I have ever seen. I'm supposed to pick it up Monday, but may go in today!

Cheers!

Congratulations Bruce. Great watch and I wear mine quite a bit. Dial is amazing and when you get in the sun it has a lot of variations. Enjoy.
