Interesting. I wonder how Swatch will handle this? Will they supply to meet demand or will they allow the Flippers to prevail? I would like to see them release the watches to regular stores within a week or so and also provide the Omega Boutiques and dealers. If not they will lose a lot of the momentum they have gained with this release. Online would be great also.

Store manager at Oxford Street shouted that these were normal production run and will be released online during the week.
Not sure how accurate the "released online during week" bit is but saw signs printed on Carnaby Street store corroborating normal production run messaging. Sent from my SM-G998B using Tapatalk |

Seems the Hong Kong launch was a big screw up. Police breaking up overnight queues many times, then the launch getting cancelled and uncancelled, etc.

Great story. I guess I do not want anything enough to stand in a line for a extended period of time. Especially a mass produced, though cool watch, that I will be able to buy in the next few months. Patience is typically not a virtue that I have a lot of but in these circumstances I will have a lot. I am watching Swatch to see how they respond. Do it right and you will have a lot of customer and it could be a fun adventure. Do it wrong and you could work against your self. And the company that will get covered with the splash is Omega.

Sheesh. Flippers on display. Wouldn't buy one if there wasn't a queue. Cannot fathom the desire for a Swatch with an Omega logo on it. Seriously. People have lost their minds in our hobby.
Beanie Babies or Tickle Me Elmos anyone?

When I was in college I might have entertained such a ridiculous task but those days are long past. 150 per store seems like an purposely low number. Dumb.

Crazy crowd videos from all over the world showing up online now. This is shaping up to be the watch event of the century in terms of global interest. I guess it will only snowball for now, with more and more folks wanting a piece of the action/history.

I have to say it's stuff like this that almost makes me embarrassed to be part of the human race.
Adults queuing for hours... in the dark... in the rain... during a pandemic... getting into fights... throwing their toys... and all to get their hands on a cheap plastic watch that isn't going to be limited in production (so will be made in the millions over the next few years), and will be available on-line in due course. And let's be honest, these may end up settling at 2, 3 or 4 times retail on the secondary market after a very short period of time, so given the £200 RRP, people may be able to make, what, £600-£800 on it? Wow, big deal. Retirement to the Cayman's here we come! Don't get me wrong, I think the MoonSwatch is pretty cool and I'll no doubt get hold of one at some point, but this behaviour is pathetic.
