Rolex Anchor

I need a quick education.

Is the Rolex Anchor a key chain, watch fob, chacki or does it have any purpose at all?

It was just a trinket that came in the box. No specific purpose.

Exactly that a marketing tool of no real use, and it was around 2005 they disappeared from the Rolex dive watch line up. Many years ago now while working as a dive guide and instructor after a days diving I passed a few guys out for open water certification.Later in the evening we all met up for a drink in a local bar,and one guy turned up with a Rolex anchor on a chain round his neck, thought to myself what a complete Pratt a bit like he was underwater.

I never got an anchor when I bought my 14060 Sub new in February 1996. I'm going to go to the AD where I bought it and give them merry hell...

I've heard of people complaining about their crowns digging into their wrists, but that anchor digging in looks much more painful!

Anyone else miss the engraved certificates with the serial numbers punched out? To me it was more special than the plastic credit card that Rolex uses now.

I also loved getting the anchor.

It came on the older subs, no real reason for it.

Though I’ve undoubtedly violated several rules of “luxury watch etiquette,” I liked the look of the Classic wood Rolex box for my Classic Submariner.

And it just seemed “right” to add the anchor, though my 2011 model didn’t originally come with one.

Figuring that Rolex is the greatest manufacturer of all time, I tried using the Anchor to moor my 85' Sloop in a busy anchorage. It worked fine all afternoon, but when the breeze picked up at night, it pulled and I crashed into about 10 other boats.

It serves no purpose but it has quite a bit of history! Different metals, strings/chains, depths, fonts... you name it :)

I believe the USCG approves them for vessels under 60' only;)
