That is a great looking watch. I wonder how big it is, it looks great on its own but in the wrist picture it looks small. Thanks for sharing

Great article, Ninja.

I think it fits quite well on the wrist. I have a 7” for reference.

Thanks for sharing. It’s one of my favorite Seiko models. Love the new spb089 but not liking that it’s a limited edition. Oh, and I also want the Red Alpinist. Oh, and there’s another one that I want...

I still think this should have been sold as a grand seiko

Not sure it has GS dna but I think it could have been branded as Presage. With that said, I understand why they kept it as “regular” Seiko given that it was seiko’s first “sports” watch. Wish I had been lucky enough to get one when they were still available at MSRP. A few on eBay selling for around $800... you think it’s worth that Ninja ?

Nice article. Perfect watch and size. Glad I got mine when it was available.

It's an incredibly nice watch at the price point, one of my all-time best purchases. It's officially 39.5mm in diameter, but you are right, it looks and wears notably smaller. Here's mine on my 6 1/3" wrist, with a navy Barton elite silicone strap.

There's supposed to be a new Alpinist with upgraded movement and other enhancements on the way soon, I read recently.

Yes, apparently coming in early 2020, seemingly production models rather than limited editions:

Yeah, I look forward to checking those out in when I'm in Kagoshima in Feb-March.

Heya bud,

I think this watch hits way above. Would have to disagree on the presage line... nothing reminiscent of that line. I’d be willing to pay 7k for this watch and would pick it over many other watches including rolex/Tudor ...including a handful of grand seiko’s. I paid $800 on eBay during the first go around and added a strapcode bracelet...

I was looking for another explorer equivalent when my buddy literally took my explorer off my hands (at msrp)

This has become one of my favorite dailies...oh and it doesn’t scratch like Rolex’ new oyster steel.

That’s a fantastic strap for the blue dial! I may have to steal your thunder for my green Alpinist which I currently have on a StrapCode jubilee.

Where did you get the strap? Thanks

Wow that’s high praise from you ... I’d be foolish not to buy one now. So I just did , on the Bay. Thx, man.

Love the blue dial. However, I’m not paying what the gray market is asking for. Hopefully prices will come down.

I agree with fat ninja. This thing punches way above its weight. And I got lucky because mine is around +4 seconds a day.
