With prices coming down,
So with prices coming down (obviously vs. supposedly depending on your side of the many thread debates), whats on your watch-list (sorry bad pun!), that you may potential scoop up if the price is reasonable right? I'll put mine in this manner:
Modern Sport Bracelet: 5711/1R vs. 5980/1A Modern Sport Rubber: 5164a Modern Dress : 5196p Vintage Sport: 3417 Vintage Dress: 565/570 w/ Breguet numerals Complication: 5131R vs. Chrono-5070/5170/5172 |

Any nautilus with steel bracelet and any aquanaut at retail... but I doubt this will happen... same goes for steel skeleton AP... more realistic that I buy steel AP PC if prices drop below retail... still one of my favorites... already close to retail anyway we shall see.
if things stay the same with the above pieces I am looking at AP POG and or AP ROO black ceramic diver and I guess a blue 15500 would also be nice... |

If the 5370P gets weaker ; wow what a chance to snap up an enamel dial double split platinum chrono; just thinking about it gets me excited.
Also, a 5270G might be on the list too :) Have the sports pieces I need (Nautilus, aquanaut, royal oak) already :) |

Yeah but that's no fun.. One thing on my mind recently is how much grand comp (not pcc but split second/MR ect..) servicing is because i hope it won't kill me. I nearly cried when i had to replace the fuel tank in my carrera gt as one of 2 fuel pumps died and it only has 5.2k kms

True... A 5270G white or blue dial would be a true bargain A platinum zeitwerk striking time looks appetizing. The normal one is a little bland for me |

Nothing exciting or exotic; just a 5711/2 as the new beater I’ve wanted for years. Had hoped to get one for my benchmark birthday last June, but by then things were crazy (as everyone knows). Hoping now I will finally get one before the next year rolls around. I’ll pay RRP, but no more.
Let’s see what happens. |

I would buy the aquanaut 5167 at msrp or even a reasonable premium (2-3k above). No way at current prices, even though they have dropped down a bit..

I think the used pieces that will tank are actually the ones currently running at multiples of list, why would anyone currently pay more than MSRP for a piece still in production. Given the likelihood that once things stabilise some AD buyers and all flippers will of gone and previously unobtainium pieces might be available within a reasonable wait time from an AD it is sensible to simply wait it out and see - there are no bargains paying more than list on current collection pieces. The other outcome will be pieces dropping well below list from their current elevated levels which will be any pieces that have risen on the shirt tails of other unavailable pieces - so the 5711 effect on Aquanauts and the Daytona effect on other sports Rolex models. |

Maybe a 5712 but I don't see that coming anywhere near retail.

A 5167 or 5164 anywhere within 10% of msrp. Otherwise, I’ll wait until the market comes back down to earth or I make it through the list. Although by that time it may be a college graduation gift for my 7 year old...

I sold off my 'PP' collection at a high. I'd get back the 5712 and a 5164 at retail though. I'd likely get a 5711R as a celebratory thing.

Offer in at $56-$58 and I bet you can take it. Might say "no" today, but you'll get a call back in a week or two. |

With prices coming down,
Love these threads. Watching dealers on IG etc try and convince the world prices are holding strong while lowballing customers because prices are coming down so quick is hysterical

Agreed. Some of the conversations I have had with dealers in the last week have been truly hilarious.

I’m really interested to see how this plays out. Government responses to the crisis in many countries has been unprecedented. In the UK for instance, the government has abolished business rates (a kind of property tax on business locations) will pay 80% of employees’ wages, announced a tax holiday, and many landlords are cutting or suspending rent. There is really no need for established ADs to sell low, or sell at all. As long as they are not heavily leveraged, they can just wait out the crisis with limited consequences.
The small greys, well that’s a different story. Someone who has borrowed heavily for inventory, and needs the income from sales to pay the bills, well he will be squeezed more the longer this goes on. That is where I predict the blood-letting. I wish nobody ill, however it will be very interesting to see the dynamics. |
