Man do I regret passing on this when it was offered to me. I had to fly to CA from FL, but.... I should have done that.
Congrats!

You can buy what you have at hand because you can't really tell how long you're going to wait for the 5726/1A.

Wait, did Patek recently update the clasp on the 5990? Or was that done years ago?
(Also, congrats! Glad you went with this one! Enjoy in the greatest of health!) |

I suggest getting the blue 5726, then follow by the 5990/1R. I would go that path.

You made the right choice. 5990 over the other any day of the week.

Congrats on the 5990 OP! They are both stunning pieces and you made the right move imo. I turned down a blue dial 5711 last year (before the announcement) and i got nothing for the entire year. My AD offered me 5726-014 this year and i took it without hesitation.
Somehow i think 5726/1a-014 will get canned before 5990/1a. Although most people think otherwise. My speculation are based on: 1. 5726 has been around for longer than 5990 2. -014 seem to get discontinued earlier than -001, not all the time, but most of the time. Thoughts?

Both nice pieces but if offered one or the other I’d take the 5726. Not so keen on the 5990 layout and for me it’s not a proper chrono, for that have to go 5980.

5726a for me, as its my favorite nautilus, the 5990 doesnt even interest me. I'll rather wait for 5726 as your ad might see you as a "real enthusiast" for their watches (in this case 5726). ADs often appreciate someone who sticks on his priority watch to get. Your word will be trustworthy when you want to acquire another piece as you only get the piece you really want instead of "another" hype piece that down the line you might flip because eventually you might not like the 5990.
