Tired of paying 500+ bucks for eyeglasses?
I saw this place on ABC15 in Phoenix and thought I would try them out.
So I bought a pair for under 30 bucks and they seem to be just a good as the 350 dollar pair I got at eyemasters in the mall. Every time I have to get a pair Im PO'ed for a week and feel like I got ripped off (because i did) I going to get another pair with a tint this time....for the price I could get a pair for everyday the week! http://www.eyebuydirect.com/men-eyeg....95,49.95.html |

I couldn't agree more about feeling like I just got ripped off when I buy glasses.
The pricing is absolutely ridiculous. I have considered going the online route. Here is my concern: I wear no line bifocals. How do you get the correct measurements for the lens and for the frames? My doctor gives me the prescription but I certainly can't expect him to give me the necessary measurements. |

I've got some good deals at eyefly.com.
Works well for ones to have in car or home. |

Personally, I buy the best lenses available and the best frames that I can afford, which means that I don't go for fancy names and precious metals.
I've been wearing my frames for several years and see no reason they won't last several more, unless the person who puts the lenses in doesn't ruin them they way my last frames were. I really don't mind shelling out upwards of $500 for lenses and around $250 for frames, since that price for frames is roughly the point of diminishing returns and they can be had for less than that usually. I'm not knocking online or mail-order buying, as I have used Hidalgo in the past (about 15 years ago) when I wore single vision lenses. I'm all for saving money, but my vision, which isn't getting any better, is extremely important to me and when you consider what people are willing to pay for HDTVs, $750 is really nothing, especially when the frames can last years, even if the lenses need to be replaced every two years or so. If I were to buy online, I'd want to know more than just the generic names of the lenses and coatings I'd be buying and I'd want to know who made my frames and what they are made of. I don't think that's too much to ask.

Lazik, will that help me read easier and without glasses ? I have no problems reading things far away, it's books that are blurry.

I've ordered multiple pairs of glasses from zenni optical. I just got 3 pair the other week for a TOTAL of $45. Go to the eye doctor-find a pair you like-research that pair online (get the measurements) and compare to the measurements of those online. I can't get Lasik (corneas too thin) but have about 12 pair of glasses I rotate. A co-worker just got no line bifocals from there for $45 and loves them.

The literature supports Monovision - especially not risking a procedural problem on both eyes. Monovision done correctly will have good results. But if they try adding 2.5 or more, depth perception can suffer. Also, under low levels of illumination, monovision patients experienced problems with glare and halos around point sources of light.
Peripheral vision was not affected in terms of recognizing a new stimulus (perceiving the presence of an object vs. identifying it)

Hi Guys, with Lazik I've had no problem with peripheral vision whatsoever.
With regards to the previous post about glare and halos around light sources, I was told prior to the procedure this would happen but would be temporary, the time frame I was given was between 3 and 6 months. For me personally it was about four months, I could still drive but it was akin to driving in fog when I looked at the light sources, obviously this was at night only. I do not have any problems with glare or halos now. I'm very happy with the overall result and for a Scotsman, only having to pay for one eye put a smile on my face and a glint in my eye. Regards |
