Need 6251h Jubilee shortening advice (on 1967 5513)

In the corona lockdown I don't have watchmaker access in Los Angeles but want to take two links out of my newly acquired '69 6251h jubilee bracelet. My riveted oyster is broken for the time being and I like the look of the jubilee, feels more 60s to me even if it's not technically correct for the watch.

Any advice from you guys on how to remove links from a 6251h jubilee (or if I should even attempt to do it) would be greatly helpful.

Before you ask, yes I already did reduce the size on the clasp as far as I can, I just have the wrists of a small child....and yes I need to get a correct pearl for 5513, I'm working on that but also open to advice on how to get that fixed most efficiently.

Thanks!

Here's my 1967 5513 on my newly acquired 1969 6251h jubilee

And for good measure, my breeder/beater combo. I love the SKX013 as the beater alternative when not wearing the 5513

You need to unfold the centre of the link from the inner part of the band. Correct rubber tip pliers are needed and some skill

It sounds daunting honestly, can't imagine its something that people do at home often is it?

It is challenging to unfold the link without creating an inward kink on the opposite (front) side.

Yep that was my concern, I don't have any intention of flipping this watch or bracelet but I also don't want to damage it. How would a watchmaker do it differently to minimize damage?

I wouldn't do it if you've never done it before, I had the watchmaker do it. Looks like a hassle and will probably give you a headache. Someone else posted a similar topic recently.

Can you wear it on a nato/strap for the couple of weeks?

After hearing all this I will likely wait and have a watchmaker do it.

Thanks all

This kink is the most likely outcome. Even standard jewellers will get this kink. Someone like Michael Young or Roliworks have special tools they use for holding the link so it bends in the right place. Pop it in the mail. I’m sure these guys could use the business.
