Why do I like this so much ? PloProf

I went to the Omega boutique, and tried this monster. I have no idea why, but I love it. Anybody daily driving one of these ?

You like it so much because it is da bomb!
I fully intend to daily wear it when mine comes in. It wears so so much better than its dimensions suggest. Absolute brilliant watch.

Lucky you! Which one did you take?
The gold one is especially nice, but the previous one with full like bezel is also phenomenal.

I went steel on steel, black dial/bezel. I like having the date, and I even like the date at 4:30. I’ll post pictures when it eventually arrives.

Love the ploprof!

I think it’s charm is in the fact you can tell the design wasn’t made in committee for aesthetic/marketing reasons. Rather, design choices appear to be focused of maximizing the functionality of a tool. I like to imagine it was created with a bunch of engineers and professional divers sitting around a table.

It just...works.

Fully agree. There is a profond beauty to utilitarianism. My company builds a very large array of items, and some of them were made by the best engineers you could find, and are a thing of beauty. Surely beauty is not objective, and for some it’s a function of luxury and shine. While I love these, I also appreciate things that aren’t pretty, except for the intellect.

It’s very hard for me not to get this Ploprof...

I love that colour combination with the Titanium Ploprof so I’m not surprised you like it. I have the steel 1200m which I also really like, I own a Rolex DSSD JC which I guess is it’s natural competitor and although I really like the DSSD the Ploprof makes me smile much more when I’m wearing it.
The steel - which has the date unlike the titanium models - for me is the one to have as I like the heft and lack of a see through case back, it was also discontinued a few years ago and is starting to become collectable.

The thing is, some watches were available to order on the Omega website. So discontinued but still for sale.

I can confirm. You see them but can’t order them. The boutique confirmed this to me as well.

There’s plenty on grey though.
