Chronomètre Optimum, Automatique Lune or QP?

Dear fellow TRF friends, I have previously expressed interest for these 3 FP Journe - Chronomètre Optimum, Automatique Lune and QP, and today my AD called and informed me that a CO has come in and will be mine if I still want it.

I have done a lot of researches on my own and I love all 3. If you are given a choice, which one will you go for based on your own preference? I would need your help here because I have never owned a FPJ before, am new to the brand, and would like to hear your views. I believe I can only have 1 of the 3 that I requested for. Appreciate your input.

I happen to think the 40mm is preferable to the 42. As you probably know, the dials are the same size. The difference is in the bezel thickness and I happen to prefer the slimmer bezel. The rose gold is a nice one and from my experience I tend to see less of them than the plat model. I like the way the RG movement blends with the caseback, and I really like the rich, opulent tone of the FPJ RG. It’s a great watch. Nothing that I can think of to criticize. Get it if the size and metal color fit your personal taste and style.

Of the other references you mentioned, I really like the QP. In fact I’ve placed a request for one. But I’ve noticed it’s a slightly more polarizing design among FPJ fans than the CO. There’s more of a consensus that the CO is more pure Journe, perhaps second only to the iconic Resonance. But I’m sure there are others with their own opinions. If I could afford the financial hit, I would want to own five or six Journes.

What’s holding you up about pulling the trigger on the CO?

Thanks for the detailed and well-thought out response and I appreciate your view.

I have no concerns over FP Journe at all and just want to hear from other owners about these models and their preference if given the same choice. It is a new journey for me into the brand and any input is appreciated. Thanks again

All good, my friend! I look forward to hopefully seeing photos of the piece you ultimately decide to get. Best of luck and enjoy your Journe-y!

Hi I would take the CO, IMO is the quintessential Journe, the layout of the dial is amazing, and at first glance one would think is a simple time only watch, but actually is very complex. FPJ has said in interviews that the CO is the watch he wanted to make. I actually ordered one for next year, so fingers crossed.

The AL is a step down from the CO and I love the QP but I think is second place in design and "Journe DNA" to the previous model the Octa Calendrier.

But you cant go wrong with either of them Congrats in advance!!

The CO, no question. It’s perfectly Journe and as you’ve read before here it’s also F.P’s Journe.

Thanks Jay! I agree.

Congrats on the decision. IMHO, the CO is more Journe than your original pick of QP. But personally the CO never works for me; but it is just me.

Any ETA from your AD/boutique? It may be a decent wait but I am sure it will be worth it.

Thanks Jay! I agree.

Replied without reading the beginning of the thread. So your AD definitely have a lot of love for you to be able to offer the CO without a long wait. (Or did you already wait for a long time?)

Any case, big congratulations and pics please!

The CO is a great watch, especially in Rose Gold 40 mm.
You say you like the watch.
That watch is the only one available of the three at this time.
Easy choice.

I have expressed my interest for the CO in Mar 2021 and the AL & QP in July 2021. I was very surprised to receive the call yesterday as I have no prior purchase history with FPJ. I'm so happy to receive the RG CO. Will definitely post pics!

Here comes the penguin! I love love love it! That rose gold hue is amazing but I can't capture on my phone. Apologies.

Thanks to everyone who has chipped in. Special mention to B who really influenced this incoming.

Chronomètre Optimum, Automatique Lune or QP?

Congratulations! Such a beautiful piece. Actually my favorite part is the stealth dead beat seconds on the back! And the fact that this is Journe’s watch. Wear in good health!

Congrats! This is such a special timepiece. And the backside, the way the RG movement blends with the RG caseback, it’s a piece of fine jewelry. Wear it in good health.

Congratulations!!! I didn't comment earlier, but I would have made the same choice. The CO is a pure FPJ home run.

ChaseATX said it best in another Journe thread. "The cheapest Journe is a new one!" If you can get one you want at MSRP, don't hesitate. I'll be content with my pre-owned CS I picked up a few years ago, no way I could get into the brand now. Now that you have a CO, hopefully some more opportunities present themselves down the road. I think an Octa Lune Automatique in platinum would match up nicely with your CO.

Agree. Somehow the front of this watch does not speak to me. (I know it is a gorgeous design but just not me for unknown reason) But the back is just so special with the dead beat second. I may break down one day once my other obsessions are settled and technically, it is such a marvel.
