Gordon Gecko Safe Find!

My father purchased this watch in the 80's / 90's and ,unbelievably, thought he'd lost it....!

Fast forward 30 years and we open up an old safe and there she is

I sent her off to Cartier for a service (no polish of course) and now she is back out in the wild.

Smaller, full yellow gold watches are super cool in my opinion and making a come back, especially nowadays when something similar found be £30k+ and much larger.

Don't know a huge amount about this ref 2964 so would love to be educated if anyone has the knowledge.

If you find my question offensive, please ignore it, but since you have made me extremely curious, please allow me to ask something

I know, that an elderly man can think his watch was lost, and so he does not looks for it even in his own safe. But how could it happen that no one opened that safe for 20-30 years?

I was in as much disbelief as the next guy , truly an amazing surprise.

I guess a couple of house moves , some boxes and things get ‘lost’.

He always said ‘ I had a Cartier once , I wonder where that is..’

The watch is in great condition, the only shame is he left the box & papers in Guernsey, a tax free island off the UK, and brought it in on his wrist to avoid import taxes …. (In true 80s style) , so it’s naked.

I have enjoyed looking at those photos and I am not a big Cartier guy.
Enjoy wearing the watch and hide it in your safe again when you are on your deathbed!

In my opinion, these are the small secrets that become a real story, history. I think this is exactly what makes any watch truly exceptional.
